Drying quickly enough to not allow fungi growing up on them requires heat-doubtful enough to cook them. Why would energy be wasted on too-high a heat setting? Sun-drying would not entail much less heat, but greater risk of fungal growth on the tomatoes. Amount of your choosing placed in a bowl, covered with a wet paper towel, covered w plastic, ready in two days. Excellent. Mine arrived so dry they were crunchy and edible right away.

I was looking for an oil-free sun-dried tomato without citric acid. That's almost impossible to find. My opinion is that citric acid is unhealthy, and it's in so many foods. Not only are these sun-dried tomatoes clean, the quality is fantastic.

I learned about this brand of tomato from the Medical Medium, he used them in one of his Amazon lives.I have a pair of scissors that I use for food and I used them to cut the tomatoes into small pieces or strips I soak the pieces in hot water for about 10 minutes. I add this (tomato-hot water) to my curry and cook in the oven for 20 minutes. They give you the taste and texture of a sundried tomato without any oil or salt. How does it get any better than that!

So I purchased to organic dried tomatoes and I got to tell you, its like trying to chew a piece of leather! The date was good on it by far and this is what I get? I dont think anyone can eat this without choking on it. You surely would not be able to swallow it. It is NOT edible! Since they will not allow a refund on this item I am writing this to help others save their money. These are the Bella Viva Orchards Organic Dried Tomatoes in a big sealed bag . I will not buy again! I have had them only a few days..and thought there would be a 30 day refund but NO..not this product!

I liked that these tomatoes did not contain salt. However, because of that, they are not actually "sundried." They are dehydrated in a large oven. Therefore, they are not raw. Another issue with them was that they are hard as a rock! Enough to crack your teeth if you eat them right out of the bag. Fortunately, mine came with instructions for rehydrating - which I did. Then they were delicious. But you have to plan ahead. If you sprinkle them with water and seal in an airtight container, as suggested, they need at least 12 hours or so to absorb it. Overall, I would buy them again. They are organic and salt free. I bought them from the company website, and they arrived quickly. Note: the company did not print my review. There are only 5 star reviews on their site. Hmmm...
