sci fi war story
Good entertaining book. The author draws on his experiences from his service and he has written an interesting saga on a world at war. This book is not for everyone, but, if fiction is your favorite book, this book is for you. I recommend it at 4 stars

Marines don't die, they go to heaven to regroup.
This is a three book series that captures the, "Espiri De Corps" like few before it. There is a certain mystique about the United States Marine Corps that holds many other military services home and abroad in wonder. Without a doubt, this is a great expression of this mystique. Semper Fi my brother.

Authentic.
Its rare that an author has lived the experience they are writing about. I've never read a description of the U. S. Marines that felt so real. No.wonder.we won WWII. I also enjoyed the portrayal of politicians that is almost too close to what we.are living through today. Ill definitely stick with this series.

Interesting, If Polarizing, Perspective
Ransdell's novel provides an intelligent introspection into the failings of modern liberal culture while upholding those conservative values that have helped make American culture and civilization so unique. The characters in the novel are pleasantly realistic, if restrained by some of the novel's own shortcomings.Though "The Last Marine" does well to warn of the potential threat of a runaway authoritarian leftist America, it is perhaps too strong in its moral critique where a more subtle explanation might have sufficed and even thrived. Ultimately, the novel is fantastic at its best- with the descriptions of the war and the characterization of Harris as a patriot of a dying breed- and monotonous at its worst points- with a seemingly caricatured portrayal of progressivism that seems to lose its seriousness at times, and a failure to recognize the human morality of the other side."The Last Marine" is ultimately a strong first showing from T.S. Ransdell, and a promising indicator of future success that is inevitable as his craft as an author evolves and improves.

too close to home
Author is too young for Vietnam, but this story is so much like the last three years. I liked the story, but kept getting angry and would have to stop for a while.

The Last Marine: Book One
I found this book to be the best and the worst of things. It is very well written by someone who has quite obviously served. The "war" scenes are very real and detailed. It is my opinion that the author has portrayed the extreme ends from both sides of the aisle. It is my hope that the reality will greatly differ from the fiction of what that might mean for our country.I will say that I adamantly disagree with the inclusion of sexual violence. As a survivor, there is absolutely no entertainment value from that horror.

Awesome
I find that books written by former military have a flavor that you just do not find in stories written by civilians.. Mr. Ransdell does an awesome job and I found myself unable to put the book down, thus causing me to neglect my honey dew list. This may have caused some consternation with She Who Must Be Obeyed, (my loving wife who has put up with me for 20+yrs) , but the story was well worth it. While this is a story of fiction it rings the bell of Truth loudly . Thank you Marine...job well done.
