Kingpin's Foxglove (The Tarkhanov Empire Book 1)

Let me preface this by saying this is my favourite read of 2020 and that means A LOT. During lockdown and the months afterwards I have read well over 100 books, slowly but surely nearing the 200 mark. A lot of them, if not all, were mafia romances.Elena is a heroine unlike any other one I have read before. I’ve read smart and intelligent and feisty heroines but Elena’s qualities- her cunning, intelligence and quiet demeanour- are often more valued in a man.I found that incredibly refreshing, the roles being a little switched in this book.Konstantin was very candid with his infatuation and Elena was... not. Ish.Kingpin‘s Foxglove is a beautiful written story with a mystery/thriller aspect that just spoke to me. Bree Porter writes with an effortless force that is colourful and poignant; her words do not leave you after you finished the book.12263673383/5 Stars.I was provided with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is one wild ride! I found this book under KU and am I glad I read the sample. I fact after reading halfway, I just went ahead and brought it despite the next part is yet to be published. I broke my cardinal rule not to buy any book which hasn't got its complete series available to read. Please Miss Porter, don't take took long to release the next installment!

I absolutely loved the Rochetti Dynasty series and had high expectations for Kingpin’s Foxglove. I found this book harder to get into than Bree Porters other novels. I didn’t understand Elena as a main character as much as Sophia. However, I loved the interactions between Konstantin and his family!What I really enjoy about Bree Porters books is the fact they are not just romance books. There is so much action and details about the different organised crime families that they are able to portray a different side to mafia romance books. I also really love how strong and ambitious the main females in the book are showing that it’s not just a mafia mans world!

Enjoyable read - looking forward to the next book.

Another amazing read I can never put books down that bree porter has written only downside is it says next book released 22 January and we are now in March but no book 😭

I just have so many questions with the ending of this book. All I can say is Elena was really brave.Since she was a child, Elena has been different than others. She is antisocial, interested in science and has a habit of writing her thoughts on her skin. After the death of her husband, Elena wants to get out of this mafia world and live a different life. However she need to make a deal with Kostya if she wants her freedom.Kostya is a fearless leader and has been after Elena's heart for few years. Kostya has gone to a great extent to build his empire ; he will do whatever it takes to keep his empire and his lady.I was on the edge while reading this book; their sexual chemistry was off the charts. I was worried at some point that they were never going to get their moment. Ahh that kissing scene and the steamy sex scenes were on fire. Bree really knows how to make her readers wait with anticipation for steamy scenes.Elena and Kostya has lot of obstacles in their way; a sick family member, a murderer, secrets and lies. Elena's bravery and Kostya's strength let's say they are in for a rocky journey.This book was full of big twists and turns that you won't be able to guess. I am really shocked with the end and can't wait for book two to see where the journey will take me.If you haven't read this book yet you need to buy it. Bree has done an amazing job with this book.

OMGGG what a book! OK first of all BREE WHAT IS THAT CLIFFHANGER?!! like what?? I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.This book is so different to any of the usual mafia books out there and i loved that fact. The twists in it were not expected, they were refreshing and I like that this story was quite character based. I don't want to go too much into it and spoil it but the storyline really was inventive and quite surprising.Elena is one of my favourite heroines of 2020. She was strong, intellectual, a fighter. She's so mysterious and she's a queen without even having to act like one. I resonated to parts of her and just wanted to scoop her up and hug her at times. She had been through so much but she was still pushing through. In awe of her strength.Konstantin...aaah. WHAT A GUY. I agreed him. Sexy, mysterious, dark and broody, he was the one which surprised me. He is not evil nor good but the best kind of gray character. He keeps you guessing. And reels you in until you want to know everything about him. He is a different type of leader and so different from the usual mafia men you read. I loved his characterization so so much.Elena and Konstantin were fire together. They had such a magnificent pull. Their chemistry was gorgeous. It was so transcendent in a way. It felt inevitable. It reeled you in and you couldn't help but root for them to be happy together.Bree Porter delivered one of the best books of 2020. The cover is stunning. The secondary characters are all so interested and im invested in them to want to know more. The story is gripping, its consuming and you're left feeling like you dont want to leave that world.If you're looking for a new refreshing mafia book, then definitely give this a try. Its a gorgeous book and I cannot wait until the next one!
