Tacky: Love Letters to the Worst Culture We Have to Offer

Witty, sharp, just what I needed
Loved every essay, this book was a much needed comedic relief and trip down memory lane. Already loaning it to a friend, so I’m sure this book will be well-loved and dog-eared by the time I get it back. I’m 30, and man did every essay hit home. Not just for millennials, but anyone who is curious about youth experience and world view during the early 2000s - well researched, well thought, and worth as taking seriously as any cultural critic of the past two decades if you have any interest in this era.

Self indulgent crap
Hated this book. A detailed romp through a horny young woman’s life. A book that would do better as a Playboy article.

A little "trashy"
Had heard her on NPR. The overall gist is solid but the book is a bit raunchy. Also lots of focus on the "easy" woman: a stereotype we need to discard soon for the benefit of other young women.

Instantly Obsessed
I started reading this the moment I got it and could not put it down. Rax King is fluent in nostalgia, and her essays remind me that is okay to be human, to give into the basest of my desires, and to even enjoy it. If you’re a person who deals with a crushing sense of self-judgment, this is a must read. Let go - be Tacky!

Bought based on PBS interview.
Heard the young author on Public Radio. Always love insights I get about her generation...gave this book to two young women who were very eager to read Tacky.

hell yeah
This book is amazing and feels very comforting and honest. My life experiences are very different from the ones that Rax shares, but somehow they still feel nostalgic and emotionally resonant to me. Also I'm 21 and very happy to finally have the approval I needed that I'm allowed to be tacky.

Truly hysterical
The exact pick-me-up the world needs right now! Absolutely love this book. Just ordered another copy for a friend who joined me in the iconic 2000s-era moments that the author so hilariously recalls in this book. Highly recommend!
