Do not underestimate this inexpensive alternative. IT'S GREAT
First of all do not be intimidated by other reviews. I received this package sooner than expected. I ordered on a Sunday received by Wednesday. The box is extremely heavy but I just had the delivery man bring it inside and I opened it and we carried it in pieces up the steps instead of trying to just carry a long heavy box.Hubby told me to wait until he got home to try to assemble but of course I was too anxious and decided I would just organize the pieces for him. I layed everything out and the only hardware I used was a Phillips screw driver and a hammer. I didn't need a flat head and I didn't know what the other driver even was and I made out fine. I started to then do step one just trying to help him out ;) but it turned into a 2 hour project I completed on my own 6 months pregnant with twins. If I can do it single handedly I can't imagine it taking 2 people so much time and effort.I can say I gave this product 4 stars simply for the direction confusion with certain parts. Everything is nicely labeled however I did lots of flipping through the book to figure out which side or end I was suppose to be working on for some of the double sided pieces. It was a little frustrating but the book visuals flipping back and fourth I was able to figure it out. This didn't seem as sturdy when I completed majority of the steps but after I put on the back (which is just cardboard) it held everything in place perfectly. It also has a safeyly feature that allows you to attach it to the wall so little ones can't pull it over.Once assembled I did notice the door had about a fingertip gap between the shut door and the middle of the armoire. However the hinge is adjustable to make the door come out further but in my opinion its a saftey feature that doesn't allow little fingers to get punched if they shut it on their own. It does have little plastic stoppers that to door rests on once closed and it did make a little sound when we would close it but what I did was used the anti scratch felt pieces for the bottom (since we have carpet) and stuck them on the 3 plastic pieces and no more noise. The drawers also do seem to "stick" a little to go in because the tracking is a plastic piece as opposed to metal tracking but again I chalk it up to a saftey feature because it would make it hard for such little fingers to close it themselves. Its definetly not something to complain about in my opinion. Another thing we just recently did was we took out the top drawer in the closed cabinet and bought an adjustable bar at the local hardware store and made it into a mini closet perfect for hanging our little twins baby clothes. I am extremely happy with this purchase and I love how "baby proof" it is. We have 3 other children that sort of tried this out and its held up great. It comes with a little touch up marker and I unfortunately dropped a piece and made a small scratch and it covered it perfectly. Only bad thing i could possibly say about this is the direction confusion on double sided pieces but it doesn't take a genius to figure it out just a few extra minutes. Even if you do put it together on the wrong side (I am guilty) its easily fixed once you get to the step where you realize you made the mistake. Just upset that it wasnt labeled like an a side or b side it would have made things much easier. over all the finished product is amazing and we couldn't be happier. I had it assembled and filled before hubby got back and he was impressed with my craftsman ship :) I highly recommend this product!

Works and looks great! I don't understand all the negative reviews.
I was hesitant to purchase this piece based on all the negative reviews but I'm very happy that I did end up getting it. I'll give you my opinion on the complaints I've read about in researching this piece.Shipping:This is packaged fairly well but we still had one piece arrive damaged. I called the company and they immediately issued an order for replacement parts at no cost. Customer service was very friendly and helpful. The only reason this isn't getting 5-stars is because it takes 2 weeks for any replacement parts to arrive. However, we were fortunate that it was the decorative piece at the bottom so we didn't have to wait to put the rest of the furniture togetherOverall Look:As most people have said, this piece is super cute and looks great. There were some complaints of this piece being too small. I don't understand those reviews as the dimensions are clearly given on the sample images of the chest and should be easily available for customers to know up-front. I think the smaller look is perfect for a child's room and we have a smaller room so I actually appreciate the smaller height. Maybe you should get out a tape measure and make sure you like how much space it will take up before you buy (hint, hint)!Set-up:Wow, not hard at all! I'm the pregnant one and I was able to set up 95% of this on my own. The only thing I needed my husband to do was hammer in the hinges in door... and he thought this was very easy. I don't know if people just don't have a lot of experience reading directions or diagrams but I thought this set-up was ridiculously easy. It look me a few hours by myself (2-3). Would have taken less than 2 hours if my husband had been home when I was setting most of it up.Quality:Ok, this is self-assemble furniture. What were you expecting? High quality, hand-crafted wood pieces? These are standard compressed wood pieces. Overall I think the quality fits the price well. My only complaint was the little decorative wood piece that fits into the swinging door is only attached on with an adhesive strip and it comes off easily... but that's nothing a little gorilla glue couldn't fix quickly. Also, the stability of the piece is decent; it's not solid wood but it's not wobbly either. I think the stability is appropriate for the size of the piece and quality of self-assembly furniture.Other:There were multiple complaints about the door leaving a crack because it isn't quite wide enough to cover the whole left side. Personally, I don't think I would have even noticed this if I hadn't read about it in so many reviews. The crack is extremely minor (1/4" max). Guess what, I doubt anyone will notice and it doesn't bother me at all. Like I said, the only reason I noticed was because I was looking for it. It actually looks like it was designed that way so the door hits the little rubber bumpers when it closes instead of the center wood piece. I think that is a better engineering design than having it constantly bang into the wood.Overall I'm very happy with this piece of furniture and I am seriously perplexed by all the negative reviews. It's a good piece of self-assemble furniture.

Attractive, functional, affordable
I bought this to use as extra storage in my basement. The piece turned out to be just what I expected. I will use it for miscellanious extra stuff. If you are looking for a high end fancy piece of furniture, this isn't for you as I would hope you could tell from the pictures. Some people complain about the quality, but I am not sure what they are expecting for just over $200. This piece is functional, and for the price is nice looking. Some people also complained that the directions were hard to follow. I have to dissagree. The instructions were clear. The only thing I might change would be better pictures of the items as there are a LOT of pieces to count through before you start. Now while it was easy to follow the instructions and easy to put together, it was VERY time consuming. I think there were 23 steps in total and tons of screws, plastic pieces... I put it together myself and while I didn't keep track of how long it took, I would guess 3-4 hrs. That is a pretty long time for a single piece of furniture which might be why some people complained. Also, some of the connection pieces are plastic, so I will be careful when I move it.Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It is just what I needed and at the right price.
