Not that helpful for truly small business
I was very excited to read this book but I'm now halfway through and still waiting for inspiration that applies to a genuine small business. By this, I mean a small business that is run by one person, aiming to make it successful and grow eventually maybe with 1 or 2 employees. This books talks more about businesses wanting to change the world, employ a load of people and go into partnership, sacrificing your children's early years and making a "difference". But how many small "maker" business can get to change the world! Its not suitable or practical advice for many genuinely small businesses. I will finish it, but it's just not really a " small business" advice book so dont expect any amazing ideas or tips if your a sole trader about how to start your business.

Colourful and different. Didn’t float my boat.
I have been wanting to turn a side-hustle into a small business and thought that I might find some inspiration in this book. I was expecting the book to deliver secrets for turning what you love doing into a business. It delivered in some ways, but, I felt there wasn't enough energy in the delivery to inspire me.There is some good advice in the book, the philosophy is great but the layout of the book in my opinion is awful. It lacks structure and formatting; it reads more like a blog. The hardback edition is quite compact, the cover is nice too and there are plenty of endorsements for Holly's good work in the world of small businesses, which is one of the reasons I bought this book. The book contains some useful exercises and plenty of topical pictures which bring a splash of life to the pages of this business book; it's certainly different to other business books that I have read.To summarise, the book is colourful and different, but it didn’t float my boat.

Inspirational - a must read for anyone taking their first steps in business
Such a beautiful book - as an avid business book reader this really was so different to anything else I’ve read before. I now really feel ready to go out there and do it! Thank you Holly

Could have been a pamphlet.
I am honestly stunned how many people have left a glowing review for this book, the overwhelming feeling I am left with here was ‘what a huge waste of paper’. At least three of ‘Hollys Hacks’ are essentially to sit down with a piece of paper and write a list… radical. I’ve never left a book review before but honestly, don’t waste your money. It’s not a manifesto on how to turn your passion in to profit, it’s a book that says about three things in a hundred different and ordinary ways. I feel bad being negative about this book but if you’re going in to it hoping to be inspired, like I was, I think you’ll be disappointed. I’m going to leave it out on our garden wall for someone to take and hopefully it will change their life so some good comes out of my purchase!

An inspirational, outside the box approach to starting a creative business.
The authors fresh approach to starting your own business is like that first breath of spring air when you feel excited about what's to come. It's an inspirational kick up the pants for anyone who is starting, or thinking about starting their own creative business. As a small business owner, with a passion for creativity, I know that this book would have been a constant companion when I started out, especially when the inevitable doubt started to creep in. The authors joyus enthusiasm, for people and business, jumps off the pages and one can't help but be inspired to put all those business ideas into motion. Reading this book will give you the courage to turn your passion and purpose into reality!
