Can't go wrong with these pencils
I used a smaller set of Caran D'ache luminance in the past, and was extremely impressed. However, the thing is that they're simply too expensive, and i don't sell my work.Derwent lightfast turned out to be a great alternative, and for a fraction of the price of luminance. These are highly lightfast and oil based. Regardless of being oil based they're not too hard. In fact they're relatively creamy and blendable, yet hold their point quite well for details. The wood casing is top notch and the leads don't break (don't risk using dull sharpeners).Derwent always comes up with lovely shade ranges. This one has earthy, muted shades which are perfect for wildlife. However, it lacks a proper pink pencil.I generally use a combination of prismacolors and FC Polychromos for my work, but given the fact that prismacolors are so notoriously fragile and cheaply made, i don't think i will be going back to them. And shockingly enough, the cost of Derwent lightfast is lower than the cost of prismacolors here.Overall, this is the most expensive set from Derwent but it's worth the price, especially for people who sell their work.

Easy on the hands
I have the Derwent watercolour pencil set that I bought 25 years ago which has been a helpful accessory medium in my fashion illustration.I researched many brands before deciding to go for these, despite the higher price tag and these are easier on the hands than some others I have tried. There's less wrist fatigue. The colours are rich enough on simple cartridge as seen from my first attempt, although I will need a more 'toothy' surface for multiple layering.Despite 72 colours, the set does lack a good 'flesh' colour, which needs to be blended, so for portraits, I would want more flesh colours. The plastic tray is a bit flimsy, which I had noticed on my earlier set as well and I see that it is a common peeve for many artists with this brand! At their price positioning, a litlle more substance on the tray would be appreciated! What surprised me was that the set was imported in 2021 - I would expect a fresher batch. However, these are supposed to be lightfast for 99 years, so it is relative.I am very satisfied with the purchase so far.

Product is good but bit costly.
Nice product, easy to use but costlier than the other good brands available in the market/online. Product is not for beginners.

Not for anime drawings
If you're an anime artist these shades are not gonna fulfill your requirements. Why? Because it doesn't have brighter shades of colors as bright shades are main priority for anime drawings i returned the product after noticing it even tho i bought the 72 setsThey have all the dark shades available suitable for realistic drawings and also all metallic color are available but not anime friendlyWhen it comes to blending they're oil based so when you do coloring in anime sketches you'll have hard time layering.I quickly ordered the Prisma colors 72 sets as they're a bit expensive than Derwent lightfast but i do anime artworks only so needed blighter tones and now im satisfied with PrismaAh wait also the tin box was damaged on delivery.

Good but overpriced.
These colours are awesome. layering is easy with them, blending is good, comfortable to use, lead are in the center of the pencil, they are neither too hard nor too soft, pigment is rich, packaging looks premium but for this price range they are overpriced although I got thee for just 3600 INR but the are actually 5k or 6k which is way too much for these if you are willing to spend that much then I would suggest you go for polychromos but not prismacolour cause dwerent is better than prismacolours.

Absolutely amazing
Pencils are strong and superbly blendable( use blender Pencil, not included). Tones are rich and given the shades , they are ideal for portraits and landscapes both. One defect though, the natural brown shade doesn't blend well. Slightly overpriced I will say. I bought on an offer for 5.5k. (48 shades)

Gorgeous fade resistant pencils
How are these different? They are thick! Derwent's pencils in general are among the thickest pencils on the market. The wood is solid hard and sharpens beautifully. 1 of these pencils is equal to 4-6 prismacolor's in coverage

Beautiful pencils
These pencils are wonderful! They not only have beautiful pigment, but they are easy to sharpen with the Derwent pencil sharpener & I like the size of the barrel. Highly recommend!

Wow! The coverage and layering surpasses prismacolor!
This is such a great mix of primary colors. What do I mean by that? This assortment of colors will allow you to achieve many different colors by layering. I recommend using Arches hot press watercolor paper or strathmore colored pencil paper... I illustrated a complex novel cover illustration with this set and I didn't need too many extra colors. Skintones are easy to achieve with this set too. Extremely thick barrels. They sharpen beautifully. I use and M and R sharpener with replacement blades. It's kind of mind blowing at how much coverage 1 pencil gives. So superior to Prismacolor. I love this brand, polychromos and luminance. Derwent lightfast allows lots of layers. They have a slightly dry texture but they are amazing.. Perfectly paired with luminance and polychromos. I have the 100 set now but this is a great starter or sampler set.
