French XVIII century frigate model, La Renommee. Model is built 100% by hands, every detail is worked with special attention, model has bronze cannons, woodcarving on ship nose and stern. Model is awarded with Bronze medal at all-Ukraine modelling championship. 1:100 scale, so ship dimensions are good to place it in any apartment or office. Model is not painted, colors are natural wood, specially selected to show actual historical colors. Model took approx 750h to build. Ship history: La Renommee was built in 1744 году in Brest under Blaise Ollivier supervision. Francois Clairin-Deslauriers was also involved into La Renommee construction, as a shipbuilder and subcontractor. Frigate specs: Crew: 209 people. Armament: 26 eight-pound cannons on main deck and 4 four-pound cannons on upper deck. Jean Boudriot in his book on French Naval history selected La Renommee from eight similar frigates to represent this ship class. The criteria for the selection was most detailed documentation of the frigate. So it was also selected by myself to build to have historical accuracy. La Renommee was in service in French Royal Fleet until 1747. On September 24, 1747, the ship was captured during heavy fighting with English HMS Dower, which had 50 cannons, and then was used in English Royal Fleet.
