Works fine with DSC 18xx series.
This is a basic wired door sensor with an armored flex wire suitable to be mounted as-needed. I installed the magnet on a garage door and the sensor unit to the back of the track with a simple wooden bracket I made from scrap wood. It wired right up to the DSC 1864 exactly as DSC's instructions said a wired zone should, and 'just works'. I'm totally satisfied, and judging by the build quality it will probably last until long after the house falls down.

Worked perfect. Shipping was good. Product is great. Used 2 of these to work with my garage heater thermostat. One at each door. Now when the either door is open the heater does not run. Will save me on my heating bill. Very happy. Products is very durable. Switch distance will work about 2-3 inches away from contact. Made very easy to mount. Even using 3m 2 way tape on the contact for my garage man door. Large garage door used mounting bracket to and drilled using self tapping screws. Again very happy. Ive worked in many shop where these switches are use for security systems and they seam to last long time

A little bit overpriced. but In had another one for my other garage door so wanted a match.
....But I had another one for my other garage door so wanted a match. Paying for the brand name I guess. Works good though!

Good product
This product is well made, durable, and easy to install. I used it to convert a normal doorway contact over to a garage door contact. It is rugged and there are plenty of ways to install it so it will work in various configurations.

a top mount is good only if you want to know if the door ...
It makes me cringe hearing people say they mounted this on top of their overhead door: If you have a lock or garage door opener on the door, a top mount is good only if you want to know if the door is opened or closed. It will do nothing for actual break-ins. Thieves will not be able to open the door - they will push in either corner of the door at the bottom. It would be best to have two of these mounted to the floor at each side of the door.These work very well and work with a very large gap. One of my first set of contacts failed after 5 years but still a good buy.
