License Plate Adapter Kit for Subaru (Listed Below only)

It uses two screws to compress a plastic backing in the bumper to hold the plate. Once screwed in place, the backing expands and holds the license plate and frame in place. It fit the factory holes exactly. Once installed, it held the plate "firmly"" in place; since it attaches to the plastic bumper fascia and not into a metal frame or plate it is not "solid" but is seems adequate for the job. After some time I will recheck that it does not loosen under different driving conditions. The material (ABS plastic) is well designed and relatively thick and the bolts provided are stainless. New screws to attach your plate to this frame are also provided and were stainless in my kit. It took about 10 minutes to install, including getting tools and cleaning up; just follow the directions (which were printed on the box; nicer than a loose paper insert) and realize the provided backing inserts expand to hold the frame. It looks quite nice once installed and does not require you to drill any additional holes in your bumper.

Absolutely as advertised, and – unlike many an aftermarket part of one kind or another – this fit perfectly, and the instructions were crystal clear. I'd never heard of an "expansion nut," but even this old guy grasped the principle at work right away after reading the instructions. Much more sturdy attachment of the front license plate on my 2018 Crosstrek than with the two "license-plate-hole-distance" holes drilled in the bumper fascia by the dealer. My only gripe is that I'd have liked black license plate attachment screws, because I have a thin black frame around the license plate, but polished stainless will do just fine, and may well last longer. In any case, all the parts necessary are included with the adapter, they worked just as they should, and installation took me only a couple minutes with a #2 Philips screwdriver.

We moved to a new state that required plates back as well as front. Had no idea how to affix the plate on our Subaru as the front bumper has some weird sized hole. None of the store or online sold adaptors worked. This license plate adaptor fits well and was super easy to install. No need to pierce a hole in the bumper! Wish I knew about this sooner. Totally worth it.

Bought these for our 2017 Subaru Forester XT. We got the car in Florida but since then we moved to a state that requires both front and rear plates.Kit comes with all the instructions printed on it and clearly shows which vehicles it will fit on. Installation is nothing more than two metal threaded rubber mounts. Once in place turning the screw will pull the rubber toward the back of the mounting plate and securing it to the vehicle. it sits fairly flush with the rest of the vehicle and it holds securely, the rubber will make it feel as if it is not properly secured but it is. <b>DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS MORE THAN THE INSTRUCTIONS TELL YOU TO</b>. Once the plate is mounted installation of your license plate is easy and done in seconds. The plastic seems to be just as durable as that which most of your vehicles plastic trim already is made out of.Highly recommend getting this if you need one.

This adapter kit does exactly what it is meant to do and serves its purpose. I am not legally required to have a front license plate on my car and just one on the rear would suffice but decided to put the front plate on because otherwise the original mounting holes for Japanese plates as well as the holes drilled by the US car dealer would be visible and I would not like it. I originally intended to use a simple dhrome license plate frame as well when mounting the plate. However I ended up not using the frame just because the frame I had was not ideal in this case. If you want to use a license plate frame, be prepared to go buy a set of 4 screws to replace the set that comes with the kit. If you choose a frame that ends up adding a little more thickness, the length of the screws that come with the kit might not be sufficient. I ended up not using the license plate frame because it was not easy to position it perfectly. So the only "add-on" item I ended up using was chrome colored screw caps/covers. Looks fine, works fine. The way that this adapter kit mounts, it is not intended to be screwed on very tightly and the instructions say so. I know I put this on properly and tightened it the amount specified but I felt wary when first seeing how the adapter unit had leeway and could move a little instead of being very firmly attached and flush against the car.
