Don't waste your time
Book started kind of okay but quickly became boring. Only completed reading this book as I always finish reading a book however bad it is. LoveCouldn't understand why it was classed as a best seller!

"Filled with humour, affection and wisdom" R&J
It was great fun reading Happy Families, and visiting the Yau Sum takeaway in small town Wales. The author brings the characters in the family and the town to life with her well-observed depictions and humour. Each has a story to tell (with a gentle rippling of Cantonese and Welsh) and a mystery to reveal, as Amy gradually and lovingly unravels the secrets that surround her.

Warm, Witty, Touching And Funny
Loved this story by Julie Ma, which had me teary one moment, and laughing the next. It vividly depicts what it is like to be outsiders moving into a small Welsh town, and how the best human emotions can overcome cultural divides. But there is grit here too, with rascism and cruelty to the vulnerable, witnessed by the very likeable main characters at their Chinese takeaway base. A most fresh writing voice and uplifting read.

Very very disappointed ..worst book I have ever read !
So disappointed with this book .So hardgoing and boring .Did my best to try and get through it but was so bored it wasn't worth the effort .How on earth was it a winner of the Richard and Judy award ?? Very disjointed story .I'm surprised I had the patience to get to page 258 .Had enough by then .
