A variety of shapes that work well.

I bought this for myself to go alongside a ‘sushi making class’ that I was given as a birthday gift and I absolutely love it! It’s that good, I’ve ordered a couple more, one for a raffle prize and one a Christmas gift for a friend.The class has taught me the flavour pairings and how to put them together and the kit has allowed the process of making them, a lot simpler. There are plenty of moulds for the making the shapes of sushi that are the norm, all of the right tools to help me build them. We have tried making sushi by hand and to get the perfect roll or square every time is very difficult, especially for those of us who have arthritic hands so the moulds and tools help so much.With most ready made sushi trays that we have bought from the supermarket etc., there is always one or two that we don’t like, another reason to make your own! You get to choose the ingredients that you enjoy, with no yucky surprises and they can be as cheap or expensive as suits your budget.With a little practice we will be able to dish up a plate yummy family snacks or a lush lunch for friends. We are having a party in a couple of weeks and were looking at ordering a couple of trays of sushi to go along with our finger buffet, but after seeing what I can do and tasting the homemade version, we’ve decided to make it ourselves. It will be fresher and healthier, we will know all of the ingredients that have gone into making each one. We have a thermomix which is perfect for prepping the ingredients…This kit is so well put together, it really does feel strong enough to last forever! The plastic is BPA free and dishwasher safe.The kit includes:2 Square Frame2 Shapes of Base1 Nigiri Sushi mould1 Sushi Knife2 Chopsticks with Holder1 Serving Fork1 Rice SpatulaThe moulds have handy alignment guides that help you to divide the rolls into individual portions, perfect for us who are counting calories or for buffet size portions. The instructions are clear, concise and simple enough to follow, then there’s online tutorials for those who haven’t had a class or prefer to watch and learn. Filling the chamber is easy and the tools help you pack it all in, I’m even becoming a dab hand with the chopsticks! The knife included is sharp enough to cut through with ease and it really is amazing how professional they look, there’s definitely a sense of achievement. You can make all of the traditional shapes, round, rectangle, triangle, heart, semi-circle, among others that we will try in time.I would definitely recommend this kit, especially if you are a beginner, it has everything that you need, I am looking forward to producing more and more…The box unfortunately was not in great condition but that did not impact on the contents.

Much easier then bamboo Matt but found instructions slightly misleading. Here’s how I did it incase that helps:Just line sushi box/ maker with seaweed, put rice half way, use wet spoon to push down flat, use insert to made a dent in rice, add small amount of filling, cover with rice, use wet spoon to flatten again. Fold seaweed over and use insert (flat side this time ) to push down which makes seaweed stick together. Finally remove bottom and slight pull the box apart and the sushi drops out the bottom.I can now eat sushi regularly as it was so quick and easy.

This is an excellent kit for beginners. I'm not one having previously used the traditional bamboo mat. However, this kit makes the process much easier and you are able to make a variety of shapes. Unfortunately one of the top covers (described as the the Round Cover in the product images) is undersized meaning when I press down onto the roll it creates a crease in the seaweed sheet down each side of the roll. Not ideal for presentation. The flat spatula could do with being thinner so I could use it to flatten the rice in the narrower Mini Square Frame. Also using the Mini Square Cover to ease out the roll from the Mini Square Frame isn't ideal as the square roll can become misshapen. Having said this, these are minor inconveniences and the kit is brilliant to use. Overall gave it four stars because it is not perfect, but gave five stars for Easy to use, Value for money, and For beginners scores. If you are just starting out with your sushi adventure this kit is a must have.

Is OK, it is a bit hard to get out of the mould without it breaking.

Bought this kit along with an ingredient kit for my daughter for Christmas. She absolutely loves sushi and really enjoyed making it. It was really easy to use the set and she loved eating what she had made. Perfect present for a sushi lover

You get a decent knife with it which adds to the value.The kit is relatively intuitive, but still refer to the instructions at first. Found it makes the sushi making process easier and you can make hearts with it. And a few other shapes.
