Do not buy. Nexar and scosche do not stand behind their product.
I owned a nexar beam dash cam that worked fine. Purchased the NEXS1 because I drive at night and it stated that it had better recording capabilities for night driving. The dash cam was functioning well until about a month or so ago. During the recording it freezes intermittently all through drive. Texted scosche tech support and explained the problem. The asked for a sample video which I sent. Scosche said they needed to send the video to nexar for review. Two weeks go by and I received no response. I contacted nexar tech support directly for assistance. Talk about a run around. You get passed off to multiple people who ask you the same questions over and over. Explained to them the “hesitation” or “freezing” happens intermittently during the entire time it films. Sent them 3 video samples. Now they want to know the date, start and end times of each video sample. Really? I told you it happens every day from start to end. Very frustrating. I should never have bought the NEXS1 and just stuck with the beam.Update 8/21/2021:So after going back and forth with Nexar they were of no help at all. I took the micro SD card out of the camera and reformatted it. The intermittent freezing stopped. Great it’s working again, it didn’t last long. Now the dash cam itself would stop working. The red led light blinks when it’s recording. I’d constantly get a solid red light. Contact Nexar customer support again and explain the problem. After 2 weeks of going back and forth with 6 different Nexar support reps they tell me I have to contact Scosche directly. I contact Scosche support. This rep was very helpful. He said send the dash cam and we’ll replace it. They even sent me a prepaid return label. Send it back they send me a new dash cam. Set it up and…… still has the solid red light. I’d have to turn it off and turn it on again. Very frustrating. Did several factory resets only a temporary fix. About 2 months ago Nexar did several firmware and App updates. I’m happy to report that the dash cam only had a solid red light once. Huge improvement. I give it 3 stars for scosche support and that the dash cam finally works right. Deduct two stars for Nexars lousy customer support.

nexar is the best. this is why.
i see many expensive dashcams nowadays even some 4k ones that sell for more than $500.. but nexar beats every one of them with a simple intuitive feature.. save videos in your phone while you are driving. thats the most basic expectation when i put a dashcam there. High resolution, blah blah for money are all next in line. Kudos Nexar. You are the only one in the market with this feature. This actually helped me in a car theft. I found my car missing. There were no super geeky LTE/cloud dashcams with data simcards and battery stacks in my car.. But it was a simple nexar Halocam that already saved a video in my phone when I parked my car last. At least I had some proof. Now with general features:1. all events are saved to phone automatically too, like hard breaking etc.2. The cloud storage is unlimited but what is saved there is a series of photos (with no audio) but thats fine it makes sense not to store whole video when u r given free unlimited storage. I am ok with that.3. Video resolution is just fine. My old cam was a 720.. this nexs1 i bought now is an HD (1080). thats fine.4. It also saves motion detection videos even when the car is in parking (no additional hard-wiring). I didn't see this yet, but the customer care says some 30-40 brief videos (need to manually sync once u r back to the car).. That would be awesome without hardwiring. I will update here once I see it in action.Cons:1. Price can sure be lesser. But thats not a deal breaker. I wanted my videos on my phone automatically, with ok resolution. But ymmv, there are many cams that give better resolutions, cloud features, battery backups etc. Go for it but they won't save your videos without elaborate data network and of course your valuable $$.2. I ordered a cam with suction cup, but they sent me one with adhesive stickers. Amazon gave me the difference in promotional certificates, so i am ok there, but nexar/scosche really have to fix this mess up. I read at least one other review where this happened.overall imo, nexar is the best. Scosche's hardware and sensors are only topups if you ask me.

Camera returned. Mount made camera way too low.
Never plugged it in. The mount has a long neck which may work for some applications but I wanted a neat tucked away camera. Retuned unit for refund.

Super Easy & Great Quality Product
I was in a fender bender a while back that wasn’t my fault and I didn’t have a dash cam for proof. Needless to say it didn’t end great for me. So I did some digging and found this product from Scosche. I already own a few of their products, all of which I love, so I figured I would give this cam a try.First off this thing was easy to install and the cables are all out of view which still leaves a clean look. They give you more attachments than you need to route the cables, which was appreciated. The pairing with the Nexar app was an easy set up and the cam automatically knows when I begin driving and when I stop, so it’s a pretty effortless device that gives you a great peace of mind. I haven’t uploaded any video yet to desktop, but just looking at the video on my phone, quality looks top notch. All in all I would say 10 out of 10 and a must buy if you’re in the market for this type of product.
