GrumbacherPre-Tested Oil Color, 37ml Tube, Cadmium Yellow Medium

This is a rare colour, though not expensive. If combined with Alizerin Crimson, it does great flesh tones. Basically all flesh tones are a kind of mud, but the exact transparency and nature of the underlying red, blue, and yellow, can make a difference.One does not need special paints to paint flesh, it can be painted from a standard palette of colours. But many of the best starting points start with Cadmium yellow and Cadmium red, and probably Ultramarine blue. Relatively pure colours. The Cadmiums are really expensive and can be toxic, while alizerine crimson, and this stuff are not expensive (probably not toxic, or less toxic), so it can be to your advantage to experiment with that approach. Even the famous Zorn palette normally used some version of Cad red, as the original version of Crimson is not as easy to find or may have been fugitive.

This is just beautiful paint, money is wasted on anything else. I bought 7 different variety oils from Blick Arts and was so happy with their careful shipping. The oils came to me in perfect condition, each tube in individual boxes so that you surely get what you pay for. Grumbacher oils are the best, I would never buy anything but this brand for perfect smooth painting.

The quality was as expected. The shipping was fair to poor: package was crushed as if it were stepped on, one of the two tubes was moderately distorted yet not broken, the package arrived a day later than promised, and the package was left outside in the freezing cold, potentially compromising the product.

Grumbacher is one of the best lines of oils you can buy. I have used it for years in my professional work and will back this product any day.
