Good, but not quite perfect
I love ice balls for a low ball coctail. They melt more slowly creating less dilution, and have a fun and even classy look to them in the right glass.Previous to purcasing these silicon molds, I have owned a plastic tray that creates 4 ice balls at a time, but is difficult enough to operate (opening and removing the frozen balls) that I purchased these silicon molds as a replacement. My favorite thing offered by these molds vs my tray is the ease of opening and removing the frozen ice balls (which I store in my freezer in a zip lock bag so I'm always ready in good supply). My largest regret with the molds is it can be tricky to create and hold a good seal when filling the balls with water and transferring to the freezer; doing this I have created a bit of an ice slick in the freezer below where these molds rest.I've also found getting that perfect fill is tricky: a fill where the ice ball is a fully formed sphere once the ice hardens and expands, without expanding larger than the mold and leaving a saturn like ring around the equator of my ice balls. That said, a 100% perfect ice ball is less important to me than being able to make a 95% perfect ball with ease and these molds provide that.I guess my final verdict is I continue to use these silicon balls and ignore my tray, so these are my current product of choice for those fantastic cocktail ice balls that I do very much enjoy.

Good for price. Could be better for consistent results.
I used these molds to make a dozen or so ice balls for a party. It's very difficult to get clear ice at home, so I won't deduct stars for that as it's independent of this product. The only issue I had with them is that if you don't get the amount of water right, you'll end up with a flat top or even worse, a weak partially frozen middle that splits the ball into halves within a few seconds of using them from thermal shock. It's hard to get the amount of water just so and it seems it depends on how well it freezes, sometimes it overflows, sometimes it doesn't and that's very hard to control. It would be much better if these molds had, maybe a case they went in to hold them closed so extra water would just go out the top and be easy to remove while not ruining the integrity of the ice ball.As a note, I found making clear ice balls works much better if you turn your refrigerator down to just above freezing and place these near the vents. Once the balls are completely frozen, they can then be put in the freezer for storage/final hardening. This resulted in many solid, mostly clear ice balls, with minimal fewer duds.

Attractive Product, No Leaking, Pretty Ice Balls
I live in warm weather country so I'm always interested in thing that can help me stay cool! These ice balls molds will help do the trick. These are the first LARGE ice ball molds I've ever tried, and, actually, was concerned that they might leak water onto the kitchen counter before I even put them into the freezer, or leak in the freezer, before they got completely frozen. That was not the case with these ice ball molds. These molds feel quite heavy to me (not that I would know!) and they definitely do NOT leak, which I DO know about. Some of my family members initially thought that the ice ball molds were silly and impractical. But now that we've made a few ice balls, we're having some fun with the molds.Be sure and do not fill the mold completely up with water before freezing, because the water will expand in the mold in the freezer and overflow out of the top of the mold. And I've heard that the ice might expand differently (?) based on how cold your particular freezer is, or what type of water you use (distilled water, boiled water, cold water, hot water, filtered water, regular tap water) so you will probably have to experiment with the exact water level and YOUR water and freezer. For my water and freezer, I filled the molds up to about 1/4 inch below the hole in the top, and the ice froze and overflowed from the mold just a small bit. When I find JUST the right water level, I'll mark the mold with a permanent marker. The hot summer is right around the corner, I'm glad I got my molds now so I'll have perfect ice balls by the time it REALLY gets hot!

The water expands as it freezes and the ice mold ...
The water expands as it freezes and the ice mold expands with it. It lasts a few runs but you get a ring around the middle of the sphere (from where the water is leaking out due to expansion) and you also either get a stem on top or a flat top. Let me explain - this comes in 2 halves which you connect together via the "equator" of the mold. You then fill the top with water (there's a hole on top)... and you let it freeze. The water will expand and it's not strong enough to withhold it... so either water comes out the hole on top OR it leaks out the equator = shallow top with ring around middle or frozen water stem.

I like the material of these molds
Could not WAIT to get these in the mail. The set came very quickly and was packaged very well. I like the material of these molds, I was expecting it to be hard plastic but it's not. It's a very firm material but has a slightly soft rubbery feel to it. Each mold can be opened making 2 halves for easy cleaning. When you put them together one side has a hole in the top center of it which is where you gill it with liquid. I say liquid because you can fill it with anything g freezable which makes these even more fun. We've been filling ours with water all the way to the very top to create to best sphere. Then we just put it in the freezer and wait for it to freeze. Makes a large round sphere a little smaller than a baseball. Maybe close to a tennis ball size. Everybody loves these. The kids, the animals the hubby, me!If your creative you can really have fun with these! Put them in the punch bowl at parties, use them as a craft mold! The possibilities are just endless.

A Great Buy!
Received my Ice Ball Moulds a couple of days ago and I am really happy with my purchase. Product came very well packaged and quality of material used for the silicone is good (I'm confident I will get many uses out of my new moulds).I purchased these ice ball moulds in mind for Christmas as we will be hosting our family get together this year. Have used the ice balls for a few different drinks and they work a treat. I found it really great that they took ages to melt as nothing worse than having your drink watered down by ice which I am glad to say these ice balls don't do. Fantastic buy in my opinion.

Great balls of ice!
When my grandson saw them he wanted me to make ice lollies, so I filled them up with orange juice and put a wooden stick in the hole you pour the liquid through. A few hours later - you get massive round ice lollies! My grandson thought they were fantastic and licked them for ages. Perfect. Can't wait to try them as ice balls for scotch on the rocks!

Great value-for-money product!
This product was delivered by Amazon two days earlier that estimated. On receipt, I took them out of the "cool" (I mean cute) cardboard box. I filled the two moulds with water through the small hole in the top (not quite to the top to leave some room for the water expanding while freezing. I then sat the spheres in the freezer). An hour later I took one of the moulds from the freezer and opened it at the centre (much easier than I imagined it would be). I popped the ice ball into a jug of orange juice and watched it melt slowly.Simple to use, and does the job remarkably well. This is a super addition to our kitchen. I'll try putting fruit in it next time.I just love products that are simple, functional, and easy to use. So I'm delighted with these ice ball moulds. Thank you denara denara!
