Mental Gymnastics

This writer captured the very essence of life. Upon completing his novel, it left me with expectations, of what is to come next. The book was well illustrated, and enlightening beyond the scope of your everyday way of thinking.

I am fortunate to have heard Takudzwe Chikepe read (or more accurately perform) twice at the Bridgewater College International Poetry Festival in Virginia as well as shared another reading venue with him. Do not be deceived by the numerous poems with short lines...they are each full of energy and insight. Each word is thus emphasized. He is a well-known figure in his home country where he encourages other writers and publishes their voices online in 100 Sailors. Indeed, "Mental Gymnastics" is an apt description, as he flips his thoughts and words across a mat, often ending with an amazing double reverse with a twist, sticking a last line landing....so to speak!
