Veronica Mars: The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line

Enjoyable mystery for VM fans!
I love Veronica Mars: I have watched the TV show multiple times and the movie, well, I think closer to ten times now. However, I have never read the books and after re-watching the show in May, I decided to finally tackle them, especially since season four is coming out this summer! I’m so happy that I finally read The Thousand Dollar Tan Line, and I enjoyed the book so much. The book had all the elements that I enjoyed in the show: intriguing mystery with surprising twists, Veronica being snarky and witty, and great cast of secondary characters. And of course, Logan, who’s my favourite! Logan was still on his tour, but he’s present in Veronica’s thoughts, there’s plenty of mentions of him and skype calls and such. I did hope more of Logan, but then again, I could never get enough of him. Veronica was naturally the shining light and it was so nice to see how her life was after she returned to Neptune. The mystery was a solid one, it started out a little bit boring but got interesting fast and I didn’t see some of the bigger twists coming. For the fans of Veronica Mars, this is a must read, but I’d say others could read it too. Now I’m off to read the next Veronica Mars book.

Very entertaining
Veronica Mars going off of television was a big loss to me - the kick started movie, which I was happy to support, was a nice return to a character and a concept I loved to bits. Much as with the Serenity movie though it mostly just left me wanting more. In the absence of a return to the big or small screens, it's great to see that Veronica Mars is returning in novel form. It works surprisingly well, although I would have preferred I think if they had been set in the glory days of the series rather than the slightly grim context of the movie. As an initial entry into what I hope will become a long running series, it's an encouraging affair - well executed, briskly plotted, and the character of Veronica and her father just oozes from the pages. The other characters are less well expressed, relying mainly on fan recognition of their personalities to make the connection with the reader. But time spent with this book is not time wasted if you're a fan of the theme, and I think it it would appeal even to those that haven't already built up a connection to the characters. Very much recommended for those desiring an energetic and enjoyable detective yarn.

Veronica is back!
I used to watch the series religiously and was upset when it got cancelled, but this book proves that a lengthy book series is possible.Although the description tells you anyway, the book revolves around Veronica taking up a case concerning missing college girls on Spring Break. The book is intersect with Veronica's thoughts and point of view and brings back thoughts about the first person narrative of the tv series. While others have said otherwise, personally I feel that Veronica's "voice" is very much present throughout the book. There are points in the novel where it seems Rob Thomas is going into excessive details about characters/scenarios from the tv series but I suspect this is for the benefit of new readers who may not be accustomed to the tv series.Even so, this is an excellent debut to a possible (hopefully? definitely? PLEASE!) book series and I look forward to more.

LOVED IT!!
As if the TV series isn't good enough - now I find out there are books too! This should definitely continue to be a thing. Perfectly written, Veronica leaps from the pages and I can see the events unfolding as I read. A perfect Mars Investigation and love reading about the gang!

Love love love Veronica Mars
Love love love Veronica Mars and after the movie was hungry for more. The book is easy to read and you can picture the on screen persona with ease. The storyline was good, if not a little ambitious for the first one, but that said Veronica Mars always suspended the realistic touch in its storytelling. Looking forward to the next one in October!
