EKM Metering - Indoor Enclosure Kit

Not for Higher Amp Circuits
This would probably work great for low amp circuits using 12 or 14 gauge wire, but for thicker wire, I would suggest looking elsewhere. I used this to enclose the "Electric kWh Meter, 100A 120/240 Volt, 3-Wire, 60Hz" meter. That meter is made by the same company and is intended to fit in this box. Although that meter is designed to handle up to 100 amp circuits, there is no way this box could handle wire that large. I used this for a Tesla charging station with 6/3 wire on a 60 amp circuit. There are a number of problems with this box and thick wire. The holes at the top/bottom and back of this box through which the incoming and outgoing wire will travel is designed for 1/2 electrical conduit. 6/3 wire needs at least 3/4 inch conduit. There is no way to get this wire into the box without either enlarging the holes or placing another junction box above this one and feeding two of the wires from the 6/3 line through one 1/2 inch conduit and the other two through another 1/2 conduit. The box is simply too small to effectively route the thicker wire. Six gauge wire is difficult to bend in a confined space and this box is a very confined space. The plastic that this box is made from is just too thin to accommodate thick wire. The wire bends inside the box put too much strain on the thin walls and cause the shape of the box to distort. The result is that is holes in box cover no longer lines up with the holes in the box.If you really want to use this box with thicker wire, place a junction box above this one and feed the wire in through two 1/2 conduits at the top and out through two 1/2 conduits at the bottom. This will allow you to keep most of the thick wires (black and red) relatively straight and you'll only need to give the white and much thinner ground wires significant bends. This box should not need the use of an additional junction box. It should be larger, sturdier and should allow for 3/4 inch conduits. This box is intended to work with meters that can handle thick wire, but doesn't accommodate them very well at all without another jbox.

Nothing over 30amps
It’s a shame, cause it’s a great box for the product otherwise. But I can’t see it being physically possible to fit anything more than a #10 wire which is good for 30amps. Luckily I used it for a 20amp 220v circuit in which it worked just fine. But since this box is meant for a meter that supposed to work up to 100amps, I can’t give it more than 2 stars. Just know that it’s only because of the size, not quality.

EKM Metering Indoor
Good Indoor Electric Meter It is pretty difficult to set up for 3 Phase We had to call the manufacturer to set up.Way too complicated to set up The Manual PDF Guide is pretty sloppy I'm "kind of" with this purchase! Not sure if I wouldn’t buy it again After 2 moths of "back-and-forth" Works exactly like it should be and It does what it design/made for not much to say about it!If you wouldn't mind to spend extra time to set-up for 3 phase than...I would to recommend to a friend!

Holds the meter as it should.
Needed to be able to record power usage on a tower that provides rural internet so it can be billed. Used the matching enclosure to mount it above the feed panel. Meter powered up at 0 and looks to be working. I managed to get 6ga wire in and out using the bottom holes in the enclosure. This was on a 50a circuit. If one was going to use this on a 100a circuit with this enclosure you will need to use both top and bottom entrances to fit the wire through. Each entrance is threaded for 1/2". It is a bit of a tight fit and requires a little finesse to get the meter in with the wires ran.

On the plus side it's pretty nice-looking and simple to hook up
This is definitely a low-budget submeter. We found it difficult to get the feeders in and out for a 50 amp installation due to space and design limitations. Cannot IMAGINE how that could work for a 100A job. On the plus side it's pretty nice-looking and simple to hook up. Pretty good for 30 amps or less, but should not be sold for anything larger
