I strongly recommend this book for kids and just anyone who enjoys beautiful books.
I was very pleased to find this book. I love medieval knights and legends and I was not disappointed with this book. The story tells how St George went to fight a mighty dragon. After he loses the first battle he gets very injured and unable to fight back again. When he recovers he melts his armor and weapons and creates an iron box. He puts his fears inside and is able to face the dragon again. The story is in rhyme, it is entertaining and well written. There are some very nice iconic moments. The pictures have an interesting style. A mix of middle age iconography, symbolism, expressionism and children’s illustration. I quite liked it. Original and well-executed. Can be appealing for both children and adults. The formating and compositions were very good. A very beautiful balanced book. I strongly recommend this book for kids and just anyone who enjoys beautiful books.

Fantastic take on the old legend
A fantastic take on an old tale. We loved the illustrations which were different. And the story too which was written in rhyme.

Saved by St George!
British born author Mark Watson now lives in Spain and has enjoyed great success for his children’s books – especially the multi-award winning MILO & ZE. He now works with Richard Caine as his illustrator.Much of the pleasure of this book is the use of a legend as the hero – a very fine and solid idea for teaching youngsters the importance of perpetuating the influence of the past, honoring it, and becoming familiar with those aspects that make tradition important. Mark adds some important background for the enjoyment of this fine little book – facts about St. George - the Patron Saint of Aragon, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia as well as the patron saint of soldiers, archers, cavalry, chivalry, riders, saddlers, farmers and field workers. With this degree of teaching Mark and Richard join in recreating the story of St George and the Dragon in a fine illustrated and poetic format.Enchanting rhyming verse, exquisite illustrations and a heartwarming adventure that simply is restorative and makes the reader feel good. Highly recommended for children and legend loving adults. Grady Harp, May 19
