A PhD in Business, Creativity and Life. A textbook beyond compare.
The Cartiers - Book Review.I STUDIED this book vs reading it. Page by page, 600 pages. For me, it was a PhD in Business, Creativity & Philosophy. What I learned:- The AMAZING ability of the Cartier family to find inspiration from what they saw around them. Paris Balcony designs became Cartier's "Garland" style jewels. When Tanks rolled into Paris during WW1, that became the "Tank" watch. Visits to India were the inspiration for "tutti frutti" jewellery (Indian gems had lots of colour) & the lions & panthers gave way to the animal jewellery so famously Cartier.- The HARD HARD HARD work that went into building Cartier. From scratch to becoming a global brand, it took long sea voyages, visits to dangerous countries, appeasing temperamental clients & surviving 2 world wars to become an institution.- The amazing rule "Never Copy. Only Create".- The fact that Cartier brothers would GO to clients to do sales vs clients coming to them. This was a shocker to me but a humble reminder of how sales works!- The shock of the Cartier business being sold by its inheritors to different buyers- Lots of amazing quotes.

A good attempt - But Boring
Dropped the book halfway, failed to capture and keep the reader in grips. Talks mostly about people involved and has no in-depth message on how they managed to survive world wars etc. very very shallow account of events that needed more attention.Found it boring so dropped it half way, no regrets.

Excellent book, a joy to read. Elegant and well informed
Like the jewerly, this book is elegant, beautiful and very well informed. Not only the story of the family but the events that shaped the history of France during the XIX and XX century.Written with the elegance. And very entertaining. I really liked this book

Wonderful biography!
I purchased this ebook and then forgot about it. I found it while sorting out my Kindle... and once I started reading it I could not put it down until the end.Written with love and awe by one person from the Cartier family that went through personal letters, archives, and interviews with descendants of people who worked at Cartier's, it's a family story, mostly of the three brothers, grandkids of the founder, and their lives and achievements during very significant times for the whole world. They surely were very creative and inspired and through this book it's even more understandable why Cartier means high jewelry. The photo insert with a selection of the more significant pieces adds an extra value!Highly recommendable!

Um apaixonante passeio pela história do luxo
Adorei como a autora vai contando a história da família porém demora conecta com o que está acontecendo nos países ao mesmo tempo.Eu uso para aprender sobre pedras preciosas e formas de serem montadas nas joias.

Cartier for ever!
The history of the Cartier’s is filled with intrigue and tales of fabulous wealth, power and majesty, wrapped up in style and detailed craftsmanship. Combine all this with personal anecdotes and factual history and you get a well written story of great interest, a pleasure to read.

Excellent book but some pages missing
I love the book, very interesting to read, especially for me as a jeweller and a brand owner. However, I noticed pages 65 to 96 were missing. I wonder whether it's just in my book or in every book.
