Onion Chopper Cleaning Tool - Easy Lift Tab - for Vidalia & Progressive Onion Choppers

After six years of heavy use the cleaning grid fell apart and I needed a new one. I was not able to accomplish this from Progressive Company site. The cleaning grid is very important, it makes it so easy to remove bits of vegetables from the chopper.As with original PL8 grid and OEM cleaning grid they are not dishwasher proof you must hand wash. The fit is good.OEM cleaning grid comes with two grids.I was very happy to find this replacement grid.

I have been making a daily "Elaine Benes" style Big Salad for a few years, and a few months ago dusted off my old Vidalia Chop Wizard "classic" to chop cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions when I found it contained the little "rake" tool to help clean the punching grid that forces the vegetable through the blade grid. That tool made the daily cleanup of the grid doable compared to the old process using a long time and meticulous care with a knife to clean out the small channels of chopping debris. It still took me about five minutes each batch to clean the grid but that seemed worthwhile for the great chopped salads. I noticed that the newer premium Vidalia choppers have an overlay grid included that one places in the grid before chopping, but I wasn't quite willing to do an expensive upgrade for this one extra tool. When I came across this new grid I was intrigued by its apparent robust nature and its inexpensive price, so I bought a pair and have been using one daily for a month or so now. The tool is placed on the grid before chopping begins, fits perfectly, and is easy to remove after a chopping session. The vegetable residue on the tool washes away with a quick spritz from the faucet, likewise the chopping grid is cleaned in seconds with a faucet spritz. I am a happy veggie chopping salad-maker with this new addition, and give it a hearty recommendation. The only mild issue is that the fit of the tool on the chopping pusher grid is a little snug, so it takes a few seconds to pry it off before cleaning, but we're talking about a few seconds compared to the several minutes time that it saves in cleanup.
