The Golden Gate Bridge: The History of San Francisco’s Most Famous Bridge

Not that impressive
A brief book that reads more like a museum monograph than a popular work of history. With so many books of history that discuss the Golden Gate Bridge's siting, planning and construction -- often in colorful "coffee-table" format -- this one is a little beside the point.

The title says it all
An interesting and fairly detailed account of the design and construction of the famous bridge. Sometimes, architectural engineering terms were used that could be meaningless to those readers who are not familiar with the science.

This isn't really a book, it's more like a pamphlet, it's very small, and very few pages. The only color photo is the cover photo, all the other photos are very small black and white photos. The pamphlet barely has any more information than the wikipedia article. Save your money.

A Bridge to Somewhere
Interesting but could use more diagrams of what the authors were writing about. Nice pictures. Good Intro

EXCELLENT
The Golden Gate Bridge is the symbol of San Francisco and to a certain part a symbol of California. The ebook THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE AND THE GOLDEN GATES BRIDGE is also published by CHARLES RIVER EDITORS.

A dull pamphlet
Like a poor GCSE geography project. This appears like it has been printed on a desk jet printer at home, using 20 point font size to make the “book” appear more substantial. The images are all black and white and captioned with “A picture of the northern tower”, etc. We can see it is a picture! The text is dull and the majority of it is made up of quotes from engineers and (dull) people involved in construction. A lot of the language is very technical and dull. Did I mention that it’s dull? I am interested in bridges but this pamphlet is not worth the admittedly-small price.P.s. the title is “The History of San Francisco’s Most Famous Bridge” but the book finishes when the bridge is completed with nothing about anything that happened subsequent to completion.
