Instrument Pilot Oral Exam Guide: The comprehensive guide to prepare you for the FAA checkride (Oral Exam Guide Series)

Aced my 3.5 hours, yes 3.5 hrs, oral in part thanks to this book. I don’t think any of these were verbatim or quite as hard as what is in here, but it makes you well prepaired.

I used the private pilot version of this book for my private pilot check ride and was pleased with how it prepared me. However, I’m reading this instrument edition to prepare for my instrument training (I have not began yet) and I’m getting frustrated by the amount of acronyms that are not defined or are defined a page or two after they are used. It can get quite annoying googling acronyms every few pages to understand the content. Additionally their are more than a handful of grammar errors, these should have been sniffed out before publication.

This has been a big help for me getting ready for my instrument check ride. I'm enrolled in a part 141 training program, so I have stage checks (like check rides, there is a flight, oral, and written exam). So far this has helped me out quite a bit on my stage checks and I've passed the first two with no stress.To be clear, this isn't a book that you should use as your only source to prepare for an exam. This is really helpful as a type of guide that you can read through to identify gaps in your knowledge. Each question has an answer paragraph or two that gives an example of a good response. If you read a question and you're sure that you know the answer, move on the the next one. If you read a question and you don't feel like you know the answer, take a look at the answer portion. If the answer is unfamiliar to you then you've got a good indication of what you need to brush up on. Using the book this way has helped me out to understand my deficient areas and know where I need spend more time studying.

A great book for a great price. Easy to take along, fits in most coat pockets. You will probably want to take this with you and study it whenever by chance you have a minute. Also helps to have a print copy around.

This is a helpful review in an easy to read format. It is great for pulling the material together and preparing for the oral portion of the instrument check ride.
