Babymetal: World Tour 2014: Live in London [Blu-ray]

A Heart-Warming Experience
The two concerts on this Blue-Ray disc are simply amazing. The videos give us multiple views of Babymetal, the Kami Band, and the audience as the performers and audience display an incredible level of mutual love and admiration. Both concerts were in London. In both, Su-Metal was 16, while Yui-Metal and Moa-Metal were 15. The first concert was July 7, 2014 at the Forum. Because the Forum has a shallow stage, when the curtain fell, the girls were suddenly faced with a very exuberant audience about 15 feet away. For a second or so, they were startled by the intensity of the audience's reaction, but then they quickly connected. For the entire concert, there was an exchange of music and mutual admiration as Babymetal performed and the audience responded. The result was a joint performance by Babymetal, the Kami Band and the Audience. Su-Metal encouraged the audience to sing songs I never saw her try with other audiences and their response was awe-inspiring. Clearly, everybody had a wonderful time. The girls seemed reluctant to leave, but they had places to go. The second event was in November at the Academy Brixton. The audience was about 15 feet further away, but no less exuberant than the first. In this second show, the Babymetal girls are even more energized by the crowd, delivering another amazing performance. At the end, they are even more emotionally uplifted, almost to tears as they each thank the audience before their final "See You." These videos are a chance to see how Babymetal draws energy from an appreciative audience and how wonderful a concert can be.

BABYMETAL Goes to London
First of all, there is one review here that gives the Blu-ray only two stars, and that is based on the fact that the picture quality is no better than an ordinary DVD. Yes, that is absolutely true. This looks like they took a DVD and just transferred it to a Blu-ray. HOWEVER. I'm still giving this 5 stars because these are such exciting performances. Sure, it's the same set as the Budokan concert, which is much more spectacular. But if you are a hardcore BABYMETAL fan (is there any other kind?) you won't want to miss this. For one thing, it's only $21. And because there is no huge revolving stage, the camera stays on the girls and their choreography way more than the Budokan, Wembley or Tokyo Dome DVDs. I'll give you an example that only a BABYMETAL fan would understand. You know the dance at the beginning of Road of Resistance where the girls look like they are riding horses? None of the other videos show that whole dance, and this one does, and it's great. They are so fantastic. Also, the girls seem really fired up to be playing in England. These shows prove they don't need huge stages and giant TV screens to blow audiences away. You also get to check out the fact that BABYMETAL can switch out guitar players and drummers like it's nothing. The drummer for these two shows is not the guy from those other three concerts, but he's just as amazing. As usual, the band is explosive and astounding, and the audience loves it. I just watched it for the first time and I think it's a bargain.

Just buy it!
This is a fantastic disc at a great price. This being BabyMetal, Blu-ray’s are usually so expensive but this one is a bargain! The performances (2 complete concerts) are incredible as well. The video quality does not reflect what Blu-ray is fully capable of but it is completely worth watching. One gripe I have about all BM discs is the lack of any multi-channel audio, and this is stereo only too. I hope Steven Wilson is hired to work his magic on new releases and remastering of older recordings. That said, the stereo sounds just fine! I thoroughly recommend adding this one to your collection

A "MUST GET" for Metal Heads and all those that LOVE GREAT LIVE SHOWS!!
These shows are AS GOOD AS IT GETS!! (there are 2 shows in this set) They KICKED ASS on this tour!! Even though the production (size of stage) wasn't like what Sarah Brightman had on the Harem tour, these shows are at the same level of greatness!

"All heavy metal roads lead to the UK"
Both of these shows are in small theaters in the UK, one just after the miracle of Sonisphere, and the other at the end of Metal Resistance Episode II. They come out of the gate at 100mph with BABYMETAL DEATH and never slow down. The UK audiences are great with loud "ima nanji"s during Doki Doki Morning and "ki-ay-roh!" during Headbanger. The Kami Band is loud and heavy, and Su-metal's voice cuts through it like a laser. The girls are having a great time, the audiences are having a great time, and it shows.

Give Me Chocolate
Two amazing shows by Baby Metal in the UK. Both shows are very similar, except for the last number or two. The girls and their band are full of energy. Unlike many other bands they're not vulgar or political. They're just fun to watch. I wish I could see them live. See you!

Perfect!
The BD arrived in perfect shape and played perfectly. This was the latest order of BABYMETAL concerts, and as expected, was amazing and totally entertaining. A must-have for any BABYMETAL fan!

Very Fun!
Like many people with the first time I listened to Babymetal, I was taking back at just how odd and unique the entire thing was. The J-Pop vocals and dancing alongside some brutal heavy metal music was a surprisingly good mix. All these years later and I'm still listening to the group, finally seeing them live for the first time earlier this year. I decided to catch up with their video releases after the show in Glasgow and thought Live In London was a great starting point. The bluray disc is in fact two two shows, the main one is a show recorded on July 7th, 2014 at The Forum, London. The second is a similar set recorded at Brixton Academy on November 8th, 2014. I would say the latter is a bette show with the band sounding might tighter and more confident. Which is also saying a lot considering how good the London set is.Both sets are highly energetic with a similar set list. The group are bursting with positive energy and exactly what attracted me to Babymetal's music. Performing the dance routines must be absolutely knackering and I applaud the girls for doing it on a nightly basis. Su-Metal has a cracking voice but she's not quite up to the standard that she is now. But still, she sounds great through out. The other two are clearly miming and contribute to the show in dance form only. With that said, the main highlight for me isn't the three girls at the front, but the Kami Band hidden all the way at the back. These guys can play the hell out of the material given and I loved watching them perform. I especially love for the bass player Boh. That guy is an incredible player. The image and sound quality of the bluray is about as good as can be expected. The image is suitably sharp, the sound comes bursting out the speakers with no issues and both concerts are of the same consistent quality. For the most part, the camera features a lot of good wide shots with the occasional close up and footage from the crowd. I did find a few moments of editing to be a bit much due to the constant cuts. But it isn't nearly as bad as other bands like Iron Maiden or Rammstein. Their live concert films could give you a seizure if you're not careful.Live In London is a really good concert release and I can imagine it will age rather well, especially due to the high production quality. This is clearly not the band at their peak, but it's definitely a band in their element. I assume that a lot of fans will already own this release, but if you don't or are wondering what the fuss is about, Live In London is well worth owning.

Well I Never.......
As a grizzled veteran of heavy rock, metal and prog now in my mid-50's, what can I say.......? I ordered this and their two albums and have been playing them near continuously. My son had seen them at Download in 2016 and had raved about them. As a concept I thought it all looked faintly ridiculous and I guess it would be if these girls were British or American or..... just about any other nationality! There is just something about their very "Japaneseness" that allows it to all work so brilliantly. The songs are just fantastic played with consummate skill and verve by the Kami Band - these are musicians of the highest calibre, make no mistake. What elevates it all, to some considerable height, are the vocals - the girl Suzuka can belt it all out with the best of them. I watched the Bluray with a permanent grin on my face - the singing, dancing, playing and stagemanship of the whole troupe are completely exemplary. What delights me most of all is the fact that the producer(s) behind it all have completely (and SO rightly) avoided any temptation to sexualise these girls. That would be a HUGE mistake and turn a very delightful experience into something very creepy and somewhat sinister. Buy everything you can by Babymetal - if you don't love every minute I suspect you have no soul (and certainly will be po-faced).

BABYMETAL at the top of their game
if you haven't already heard BABYMETAL (deliberately spelled that way) you definitely should give them a listen....this is more than just heavy metal. and the choreography is out of this world...the Kami band musicians are equally top notch..another reason to buy this is because it has the original 3 girls who were the core of the band...sadly Yui-Metal has now left, but watching these shows you can see how much she (and Moa Metal) both brought to the table...

Yet another excellent show!
Having watched the Budokan Blu Ray previously, I decided to try this one, was not disappointed! The camera work is more what you'd expect to see at a gig in England, close ups from audience points of view and crowd shots. The only downside was the girls didn't have as much room on stage to go as crazy as they normally do! But they still managed to do an amazing show. The band were truly on form and interacted with the crowd. Good video! Just buy it, at this price how can you lose!

but that seems to be pretty standard for all of their DVDs
I was at the Brixton Academy gig and this DVD/Blu-ray showcases Babymetal perfectly. I think the really "clever" part about Babymetal is thew Kami Band. These guys can seriously play and they are superb live. Babymetal Death is as heavy as anything I've heard in a long time and it is obvious from the first minute Su Metal is a seriously talented singer with a remarkably powerful voice for someone of her age and size. My only gripe would be that it is PCM sound and not 5.1 HD, but that seems to be pretty standard for all of their DVDs.
