Just the right amount
I wish I had this book when I started medical school 27 years ago. I bought this for my daughter,it has the right amount of information that you need to know ,well illustrated and easy to read. Covers parts of genetics too but my daughter needs a separate book for that(depends on medical school curriculum ),but it is a good refresher to read the genetics from this book. Throughly impressed the way the information is laid out.

Super Clean, fresh new book
This book has pushed me through about 3 University assignments and the best feature is the page-by-page contents list. It's a joy to read and to research from, with various topics weaving through 20 chapters that give a hugely varied picture of biomolecule creation from transcription, translation and epigenetic modification of proteins.Chapter 20 is a nice introduction to cell tissue histology and tissue structure - the chapter deals with cancer, metastasis, stem cells, cell signalling and adhesion molecules. It is a truly accessible chapter and a great way to experience, first hand, how approachable the book is in terms of didactic relay of information. The Sgt. Pepper's Album sleeve on the back with the contributing authors (professors) is a highlight.I am going to dig into the chapter that discusses viral replication tomorrow, but the said chapter (9) is only briefly addressing it as part of a review of the genome, therefore more specialised books will be required for budding immunologists.

Simpler than Molecular Biology of the cell
If you are in first year Bio student, and you can afford to, buy this as a supplement to Molecular Biology of the cell (Tropp). It's much simpler, so I use it as reference when I am finding a concept hard to swallow! It will only be useful for 1st year, but anything that gets me through is welcomed!

Very easy to read
Items are well descripted, Text is easy to understand also even if english is not homelanguage.Updated book, and written in very interesting style. My own examination was 40 y ago, now the daughter is reading this book. Although thins have chanced a lot, but in away not very much. There has come very many new findings but with this book it is very easy to re-think structure and mechanism in a new way
