Edge-of-the-seat excitement
I enjoyed this book enough to want to read it again very soon. It was hard to put down because I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. Highly recommended although I think it could be sold a little cheaper.

Fascination goes beyond cover love
Lately, I’ve found myself drawn more and more to middle-grade fiction. There’s a magic to it that gets lost in trendy YA. That’s not to say that I’ve given up on YA, it’s just harder to find the magic. My latest magical find is “The Girl with the Glass Bird,” by Esme Kerr.I wanted to read “The Girl with the Glass Bird” the minute it arrived. Cover love! I could tell there was something magical to it, and I wasn’t disappointed.“The Girl with the Glass Bird” is like stepping back in time but holding on to the context of today. The juxtaposition of cell phones mixed with old-timey school rules helps make the book accessible. It also helps show you don’t need technology to unravel a mystery.Author Esme Kerr’s writing is accessible and her pacing is strong, although the book does wane in a few places. Esme descriptions are strong enough to allow the reader to place themselves at Knight’s Haddon School, but they’re also loose enough to allow the reader to develop their own sense of place. It’s a balancing act she performs exceptionally well.“The Girl with the Glass Door’s” plot isn’t exceptionally complicated — I did figure things out fairly early on. However, this book is geared toward 8-12-year-olds, so I wouldn’t expect much more on this front. Overall, it’s a charming book worth reading more than once. I’m looking forward to the next book in this new series.

Fun Young Adult Read
This was a fun read about girls in a boarding school in England with heart warming and heartbreaking adventures and mystery.

British boarding school mystery
I was drawn to the cover and I like a good British boarding school read, so I gave this a shot. It was not bad and the plot was well crafted, but ultimately the characters didn't spark to life for me. I did get caught up in the mystery by the end and found the ending satisfying, so that is good, but there were too many times up till then that I felt tempted to put this down. If the students or teachers had been more captivating or likable, and if there had been a bit more lightness or fun, I would have liked it better.

Was very pleased...
I really enjoyed this book. With twists and turns everywhere I soon found myself stuck into the world of Knight's Haddon. I really enjoyed the mystery an suspense. Edie is a interesting character and you soon feel a attachment to her as she unravels the story of her parents. And I am very glad I picked it off my school library's shelf. Otherwise I would have missed out on a brilliant book. I enjoyed it greatly and you will too!

Absolute Delight!
This book took me right back to my days of reading under blankets in torch light well after bedtime. It has all the thrill and intrigue that makes you say "just one more chapter" for the nth time. It's Malory Towers but with much more sophistication and depth. Edie is a complicated and lovable heroine who has a brave and passionate heart. Its a book I want to give every child I know, boys and girls. A book to treasure and when is the next one out???

Twisty turney
My 10 year old daughters book that I read when nothing else was to hand and I thought it was great - a twisting plot where you never know who is good or who can be trusted.

The glass bird girl
It was very good with lots of adventure and I really wish that Esme Kerr has made more books like that because if/when I find one similar, I would definitely read it and I will read this book again!

Very good interesting and adventurous book
I really enjoyed reading this book because it's very exciting tense and very adventurous and interesting, the best part was when the girls raw a way but unfortunately got caught by the doctor and his wife that part was also very scary. I think this book could've improved by making it a lot more interesting at the start.
