I Am The Night (The Ackerman Thrillers Book 1)

Readable but not outstanding
The plot is so contrived that it annoyed me, and i usually don't mind improbable twists (e.g. Philip Mercer thumbs up!). The two main characters seem like genre clichés. For me my last Ethan Cross novel.

5 stars – A heart-stopping addictive read!
Current status: It’s 2am and my bedroom is lit up like Blackpool Illuminations!Seriously! Why do I keep doing this to myself? I’m really starting to question my sanity...Oi, that’s enough from the gallery – thank you!I’ll admit that I have a fascination with twisted characters and, let’s face it, they don’t come more sick and twisted than Francis Ackerman Jr. He is the bogey man brought to life! Yet, I was obsessed with finding out what made him tick.*shrugs* Issues? Yeah, I know. What can I say about I Am The Night? It was a fast paced, heart-stopping read which was fraught with tension and suspense. Oh, and did I mention a tad gruesome? *winces*Plus, you all know how I love a good conspiracy theory. Come on, I can’t be the only that’s mused about the possibility of something that’s happened reaching the higher echelons of power?I’ve done it again! I apologise for all the ???, lol. That ending though – jaw-dropping...I’m a newbie to Ethan Cross’ books but can safely say he has cemented a place in my auto-buy list.

Unexpected
Some of the writing lacks depth which is a shame. Whilst the storyline is gripping and takes the reader on a variety of turns, building a picture in your mind’s eye of the scene being painted can be a struggle, characters aren’t as fleshed out as they could be in terms of description. That being said, it IS gripping and I will be reading the rest of the series.

Addictive reading
This book was intriguing from the start. I love the way the author allows you to identify with both the victims and the criminal - he has great insights into the psychopathic mind. I am definitely going to read the entire series

Gripping stuff
I read a lot of crime thrillers and after a while character's can blur into one but not with this novel. The main antagonist is unlike anything I have read before. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series to see how the story and characters progress.
