I don't like the writing style that makes you feel like you're listening to a drunken cockney you just met in a London Pub, shifting the subject, cutting things in mid sentence as if asking you to complete them to acquiesce. Makes me think of Ricky Gervais, but Gervais is far wittier. Still, it's a good read. If you make it through the first few chapters, you end up caring and rooting for the slow horses of Slough House.

As usual Mick Herron's subtle humour comes through. I always think of Gary Oldham with pleasure when reading "slow horses" stories.
