extremely comprehensive, insightful, educational and gripping
this only came out recently and i found out about it rather by accident, i can't remember exactly how but i am sure glad that i did. this book goes into the figure of bloduwedd in some depth, looking into her symbolism from a variety of different angles. we get an examination of whether bloduwedd managed to overcome her programming in order to become a strong, different personality rather than merely a partner to llew llaw gyffes. some aspects of him are also covered, including his significance as a potential solar deity who transforms. the issue of the past being looked at in terms of different ideas is raised as something known as diachronism, which was a new word to me but quite useful. the possibility that gwydion may have been arianrhod's lover is raised. arianrhod is briefly examined in terms of her relationship with llew and the limitations or challenges which she placed upon him, which he had to overcome with gwydion's assistance. bloduwedd and llew then both begin as people severely limited by their roles or births within society who manage to overcome those limitations to become something more or greater than they were before. rhiannon is mentioned but she is covered at more length in another book in this excellent series, which is also recommended strongly. another volume which is worth checking out is welsh gods, welsh goddesses. gwynn ap nudd has his own volume elsewhere, here he is mentioned as the lord of the wild hunt and of annwn. owls naturally are considered here and several varieties are mentioned as examples. this is a highly useful book for anyone interested in celticism or celtic reconstruction, or in welsh mythology or welsh history as many points are brought up. your understanding may well be increased by this excellent book

A Deeply Important Exploration into this Enigmatic Deity
Blodeuwedd - Welsh Goddess of Seasonal Sovereignty by Jhenah TelyndruWhat a marvellous book! This book, albeit being short and sweet (as pagan portals usually are!), is a wealth of knowledge. The perfect guide for any and all wishing to forge a deeper connection with this complex and fascinating magical ally.Jhenah Telyndru’s devotion to this enigmatic Goddess can be felt in each page of this book.Deeply well researched, and loaded with historical source material...this isn’t just a devotional guide to Blodeuwedd, but also a scholarly investigation into her tale, and her place in Welsh mythology.Blodeuedd/Blodeuwedd holds a deep and meaningful place in my practice and in my heart. And so, it was a delight to hear about this book months ago. But now holding it in my hands, it is so much more than I ever expected it to be. Growing up in North Wales, Blodeuwedd played a huge role in my childhood. I remember studying her story in school, and getting involved in a multitude of projects dedicated to her in my youth - from plays and musical productions, to art projects and writing projects. And this book has captured the very spirit of Blodeuwedd that called to me from a very young age.Truly a gift to all who walk this Celtic path. If you haven’t already indulged yourself in this treat of a book...now is the time to do so!
