An engaging, well-written, and humble story with personality
Ball Boy is an engaging story, written with such flair and modesty that it makes me want to be part of the Beaudelaire High School experience. Gray evolves into a great wise young man, and his personality is written in such a way that there are moments you don't know whether to hug him or yell at him. Great read!

what a fun read!
I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this book was the ideal antidote to our current world. So many things just resonated with me. It’s sweet, good clean fun. Great for those who love sports, who grew up in the Midwest or just want a feel good read. Sad that it’s over - now back to the real world…

Great Coming of Age Story
Really enjoyed the story…was nostalgic to think back to when I was 15, and shared it with my son to read, too. Paul does a nice job of presumably using some of his experience growing up for literary sake. Always enjoyed his non-fiction and he’s proven he can do fiction well, too.

Nothing But Net
I read “Ball Boy” cover to cover in one day, and my copy arrived with magical powers: As a fellow writer, I had been struggling to get past the idea stage for my second book and put pencil to paper, but as soon as I got my hands on “Ball Boy” I couldn’t stop writing for two days straight! I have all three of Paul Shirley’s books in my home library, and they are all enjoyable, edifying and inspirational. Can’t wait for the next one!

High school fun that's great for young readers
Ball Boy reminds me of the books I read in grade school, when I looked at high schoolers as giants and athletes as heroes. Reading it reminded me of the feeling of lying on my stomach alone as a kid, a book held open on the floor between my hands and nothing else going on in the world. If you read Matt Christopher books as a kid, you know that feeling, and Ball Boy evokes it wonderfully.

Another piece of phenomenal writing by such a talented writer. Thank you!
A great coming of age story by Paul. Please go check out his other books as well, you will be in for quite a ride. Also, purchase multiple copies, you will lend them out, but the boomerang function is often disabled.

Great read!!
This book was awesome! Reminded me so much of my own childhood growing up in a small town and playing basketball. A breeze of a read and entertaining throughout as it also made me reminisce of the trials and tribulations of being a kid in middle school/high school

Language and provocative descriptions
Although the story has a classic premise, the narrative is anything but classy. When the role models are cussing, flirtations include “tits” and the observations of a fifteen year old boy are drawn with words describing sweat dripping down “D” - sized breasts without a tan line….I know to keep the content as far from my middle-school boys’ young minds and hearts as possible. I wanted to love it, and I was disappointed.
