New Rosewood Bagpipe Practice Chanter IMM ivory fitting

I purchased this the day after my sister complained on FB that her 9 year old was learning the recorder and that the screaching of Hot Cross Buns could'nt get worse: she was wrong and I am now Uncle of the year. Now I have owned thia myself as I like to play instruments: so in addition to the worst gift for a parent ever, it IS a great beginner canter, high build quality and comes with extra reeds, so worth it for the price.

I had low expectations for a chanter at this price. Still, it was packaged like it was used or returned with NO PAPERWORK OR INSTRUCTIONS IN essentially in a DUCT TAPED BAG. How is this not a sanitary issue? Even with cleaning the "high quality" reed was way out of tune and cracked. It is not really made of rose wood, just painted with some enamel coat. Please if you are looking for a practice chanter for a friend go and see a professional to avoid disasters like this!

Seems to work. but if you are like me, find someone to teach you!

The chanter is nice, wood is colorful.The holes need to be enlarged, suggest 1/4 inch holes about 1/16 deep( counter sink the holes). Don’t redrill the existing holes only the 1/4 holes.Dollar-wise it is a good looking practice chanter. With the one revision ( 1/4” diameter and 1/16” deep) this will be fun to practice.
