The Parker 51 is as groundbreaking today as it was when first launched in 1941. This unique writing instrument is inspired by the pen once hailed as the ‘world’s most wanted’ - retaining its distinctive streamlined silhouette and iconic hooded nib; yet is made for the future. This Parker fountain pen is hand assembled and made from durable precious resin, benefitting from Parker’s expertise and reputation for superior craftmanship. From conception to assembly, the attention to detail is second to none. The cap is decorated with a complementary metallic jewel and each finish is inspired by heritage colours of the past, a tribute to the original Parker 51 range. Inspired by the past. Made for the future.

Surprisingly, wonderful.
I've owned a number of original Parker 51s, all purchased second hand and sadly each one had various problems, from leaking to irregular ink flow. I've kept one, as I really do like these pens and they remind me of my school days.I was delighted to hear that Parker were going to re-make this classic fountain pen, but worried that it would be similar to the other remakes, eg the Parker Jotter which is about as cheap in feel and looks that one can get...But, I was surprised with the overally quality feel of my new Parker 51. It writes beautifully, after an initial non-action, and it doesn't leak. As I writer, I write everything from notes to first drafts in longhand. Thus far, 25,000 words on, my new Parker 51 is behaving beautifully. I personally like to write with the cap 'uposted' as it's ligther and less top-heavy.I'd recommend this new Parker 51 fountain pen to anyone considering buying a new one.

Poor
Returned the pen, for rrp of around £200 Parker need to do better than this. Why is my old 51 which is over 50 years old, and produced with the limited technology available then, better quality than this. Maybe its because then the company had a genuine interest in fountain pens.

Re-issue Parker 51
I had recently discovered that Parker were reissuing some of their past pen ranges. As a regular user of an original 51 fountain pen I thought I would check our the new range and ordered a ballpoint pen.I have just received it and very disappointed that it is nowhere near as good as the original series, namelyIt is a lot wider than the originalNo pearlescent jewel on top of the cap.The arrow clip is completely different and looks horrible on such a classic penIt is twist cap activated instead of push capThe gift box is good but you don't get the warranty booklet even though there is space allocated for it beneath the pen tray. I have noticed this with a few of the Parker pens purchased on line.So to summarise, it is a good pen for everyday use. No where near a copy of the original in looks and build quality.

Disappointing
Bought this mostly to add to my collection of fountain pens as it is a classic Parker design, copying the Parker 41.Alas, that is all it does.It is not a good pen for the price asked and there are far better options at a fraction of the cost.I understand the nib is exactly the same as the cheap Parker pens and as the body is made of plastic, I really don't see why it costs so much.Anyway, to the writing. The nib skips every now and then, and the ink flow isn't consistent, so all in all, not a great purchase.Really wanted to like this pen, but frankly I prefer my £6:00 Chinese TWSBI clones, which write much better straight out the box.Not recommended

Not good.
The pen feels and looks cheap. The plastic does not feel like a quality material, especially for the price, which is very inflated. I have Parker IMs and Urbans which have a lower RRP and which feel much better quality. The nib irritatingly appeared to be off centre in relation to the hooded aspect of the barrel where it meets the nib, and this made it difficult just to pick up and hold in a good position for writing. The first 51 I bought had a scratched barrel which I arranged to exchange for that reason and Amazon immediately sent a replacement which arrived within two days. I should have examined this first one more closely and asked for a refund instead of an exchange and saved my and Amazon's time. In short the Parker 51 is very poor value for money, and not a comfortable pen to use. You can buy a much better pen for the money. Amazon's service was very good.
