Explores many aspects of rivers
I really enjoyed reading this book. It tells the stories of 10 major rivers in North America. I liked the author’s format, which included the geography, geological history, and exploration of each river, as well as the role each river has had on human history.

a surprising page turner
This was a real pleasure to read. As I finished each chapter, I found myself not being able to put the book down to figure out what new thrill the next river would provide. I learned a lot about these seven rivers, but as with any good learning it didn't feel like work at all: it just sank in. The author masterfully blends natural history with human history and just a sprinkle of pop culture (the secret sauce?) to make you want to keep coming back for more. Like wild rivers do, this book transports us from thrill to thrill with an eye to more adventures to come.
