This REALLY looks and feels like carved wood even down to the rings/lines that you would find in a wood carving. Only after a much closer look, the lines are painted but they really add dimension to it. Turning it over and looking at the base you can tell it is some kind of casted material. I figured I'd buy it for a mantel piece and if I thought it didn't look good enough to display than I'd give it to my kid. Really... For the price it's worth it. I put a tape measure next to it for the dimensions. From end to end measures 12", top to bottom 8.5", width 2.5" max. The features are really detailed. They used a little bit of gold paint for hooves and some other fine details which looks really good and helps to bring out more detail. The eyes must be painted as well, shiny and detailed or possibly colored beads but you can see the detail on those too. Done tastefully. I would recommend. It actually looks like and feels like a true wood carving. I had to take another close look because it's done that nice. There's also a good amount of weight so you don't have to worry about it falling or getting knocked over easily. The 1st pic is a all around picture, 2nd pic shows the close up details. 3rd pic shows the detail of the eyes. Many friends have asked me about it and where I bought it. Surprised how many ppl have commented on it.

This was a gift for friends. We’re all horse lovers and each year for Christmas I try to find them something horse related. They were thrilled to receive this, and like myself, were fascinated with the unique design. Love it.
