Easy set up and use on my new iPad.

I have had this device now for about 10 days. Even though it works pretty much as stated in the Amazon ad it is has 1 serious flaw.The device ONLY works through their app. Unlike the WD My Passport or the SanDisk iXpand devices this device (when connected to an iPhone or iPad) is NOT visible through the iOS File Manager which makes it difficult to work with other apps besides iOS photos and videos. The other devices link seamlessly through iOS File Manager allowing file transfers through Dropbox, iCloud, Google Cloud etc. so be sure that you only intend to use it natively with photos and videos before you purchase it. Note: when using a pc or Mac you can easily create folders and store any files but they are difficult to use via the iPhone or iPad.I replaced the slow hard drive (for speed and reliability) with a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD and it works perfectly. Speeds for files above 4KB are just over 250MB/second. It does not hit the 500MB/second that SSD is capable of but that is likely due to the drives hardware and/or provided cable. Just be careful opening up the device so you do not break any of the tabs. This will likely void any warranty.

This is a great idea but unfortunately it does not work as it should. I was able to download the app as per the few written directions that came with the unit. Plugged in 2 different iPhones and continued getting a message “iDiskk is not connected”. After many attempts finally I was able to have it connect to a phone and after several minutes of it appearing to download photos the app crashed and nothing was saved. I patiently repeated this process 6-7 more times with the same unsuccessful result. I am passed the 30 day return window with amazon so I contacted the company via email through amazon and was told I can return the unit to their USA address and they would repair and refund my shipping cost. I will update as to how this turns out. At this point my confidence in this company is fairly low but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

While it wouldn't work for the purpose I intended, it is a very sturdy and compact hard drive. If I owned a Mac it would have worked for my movies, unfortunately it ONLY works with Apple and Mac. I might also add that the price was excellent compared to others. Returning it was a breeze. If you own an Apple and Mac it is perfect!!

I don't like the app at all...it crashes when I try to drop movies to the hard drive, which is the reason I bought it. I spoke with the app developers and apparently it is a new app with issues they are trying to resolve. I just wanted a hard drive to dump photos and videos, as to not slow the I pad down.
