Stranger Than Fiction: The Life and Times of Split Enz

A crackin' read, especially, but not only, for ENZ fans!
This book is a wonderful read, and takes the reader on a voyage through the past. Mike Chunn, once a (founder) member of Split Enz tells all from start to finish, and it never fails to grab the readers attention! I bought this book as a present (as i already had an original first issue of the book) for a fellow Enz Friend, but had to return it. There is nothing wrong with the book or its story, let us be clear about that, but as this is a re-printed updated book, it does not seem to have any pictures as it did in the original issue! So someone buying this book, thinking it to be exactly the same, should know this before ordering. Other than that, i recommend this book to everyone and anyone, as the story is a wonderful one, even for those that do not know Split Enz! A full 5 stars for the book and its author!!!

Really good book
This book is great if you are a fan of Split Enz - tells their tale from boyhood up until the breakup, although focusing mainly on the Finns. Life beyond the Enz is short & in Postscript; author does not get into the Crowded House era...probably thought this subject was best served by its own book. Although he left the group early, I was hoping the story wouldn't end there, but to my happiness it didn't, as Mike was still active in the music biz. The writing is good, at times humorous; the book has a good flow and definitely holds your interest. Great job, Mr Chunn!!

An excellent book - amusing, articulate and moving.
I have wanted a copy of this for many years - originally it came out in NZ only and not many copies printed. I had moreorless given up ever seeing it, until looking for a Spit Enz CD, this came up, so I pounced. It is a fantastic book for anyone even remotely interested in the history of Split Enz, and documents their history from the early days through till they stopped in '84.It is well written, entertaining and moving - having read many a 'rockumentary' for other bands, this is certainly the most articulate and engaging of any I have seen. Highly recommended!
