you can’t put this book down!
I’d thought I’d give this book a go, it’s not my usual choice of books BUT I loved it. I cried happy tears at some parts, I really was there with Vanessa it felt when she was in her most challenging and rewarding times in her career . Prisons 100% need a Vanessa running them! A truly strong woman with a big heart and so honest and genuine!

Amazing, insightful read
Very well written, written as if she was talking to a friend, not edited to take out any less than perfect words.Really good book, I loved it.Learnt so much about how prisons work, the good the bad the fun.Definitely worth a read

I know Vanessa Frake and this is all true.
I always liked Vanessa Frake... and it was a joy to read this book about a nine year part of my life that I shared with her. I had no idea she was a fellow vegetarian in this very violent screwed up world she describes.Good luck Vanessa!!! Thank you for your care and attention to duty.....and thanks for the book.

A real cracking read on life of the Governor.
I loved this book as I couldn't put it down as it was gripping from the first page about this autobiography book of a female governor running a top jail in West London. This is a real eye opener to understanding and learning the going on in prison life and the system. The book is well written and construct and full of high and low points in her job job.Overall a great read of a book and throughly recommended. Best wishes Sean

Inside autobiography
As I have reada large amount of autobiographies, before beginning this I envisaged a book full of personal stories, drug stories, personal battles, sexual tension with a smattering of scandal and stomach churrnunf events-- and that is exactly what I got.The book was interesting and written by a former female Governor of Her Majesty's Prison at Wormwood scrubs. It was interesting to read at first hand of the effect reduced funding has had on the prison service, and the knock on effect on staff morale. We also hear od a number of shocking incidents involving prisoners, as well as the visit of a Prime Minister, and the incarceration of some famous inmates including Pete Doherty and Rose West.I enjoyed the book although it was fairly obvious throughout the chapters that the reader was never going to be given the full story.A good read possibly for those thinking about about a prison service career or perhaps a different type of memoir for lovers of autobiography.I relate this book 4 out of 5.
