Excellent resource to aid breast cancer recovery
I began to practice Pilates following my diagnosis with breast cancer. I found Pilates to be immensely helpful at every stage - strength building prior to surgery, post-surgical recovery and during and after radiation treatments. This book is an outstanding must-have resource for all those considering incorporating strength training into their wellness regimen - pre and post surgery and during active treatment such as radiation. Even better is that the exercises are wonderful for any age, physical condition and not only beneficial for those with breast cancer. We all benefit from breathing, a stronger core, balance and back and shoulder strength and mobility - often lost or compromised from day to day living (like a desk job or hours traveling or long commutes). These exercises are easy to follow and can be done anywhere - home, office, gym, hotel room. I find myself taking breaks during the day to practice neck exercises at the office and on long flights. Easily incorporated into any day. The authors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to every page. My copy is highlighted and earmarked for quick reminders!

For both affected and those who would like more information on Breast Cancer Recovery
The book is correctly given into different stages of Breast Cancer Recovery and gives details of what can be done at these times - always remembering that guidance from the health professional is essential. The illustrations contained within the book helps to make the information easier to understand. It does contain some stories from ladies who have been affected by this disease which is both heart touching and inspirational to all.

Best new guide to come out in years!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago and received a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. This was followed by breast reconstruction with a TRAM flap. At the time I was not told to exercise, nor was I offered rehabilitation. So I am so happy for my survivor sisters who today have the tools that they can use in this book to build their bodies back up after undergoing such grueling treatment. It is so important after a TRAM Flap to regain mobility and strength to help perform simple daily activities. Performing everyday tasks became difficult and were sometimes too embarrassing to talk about. Therefore, I want to commend the authors who as occupational therapists have really demonstrated their understanding of the unique needs and concerns of breast cancer patients and survivors. I will always be able to use this book for years to come. It should be considered a standing reference and resource for Breast Cancer patients and survivors now and in the future.

Excellent resource
This is a really good and helpful book. I'm a physical therapist that primarily sees referrals from the cancer center in order to obtain the range needed for radiation. This book is very helpful overall. I'm thinking of starting a group class for breast cancer survivors and will use some of the suggestions in this book.
