House on Sunset Lake

I always buy Tasmina Perry's books to read on holiday as they're usually perfect beach reads. This was disappointing, however. The characters felt a bit flat and weren't at all well developed - it wasn't clear why all these men were so attracted to Jennifer. The peripheral characters also felt lazy and cliched - women desperate to marry and have babies, married men having constant affairs etc. The entire book felt a bit rushed and seemingly unconnected story strands were introduced then hurriedly resolved so quickly I forgot they'd been dealt with.Finally, the book needs a good edit - there are US characters using British vocabulary (one character switched between calling her mother 'mum' and 'mom') and at one point, a character in 1994 talking about how she looked someone up on he Internet 'several years ago'. There was no internet!It was OK for a light holiday reward but her previous books are far better.

A Tasmina Perry fan - was a little put off from reading this because of a few bad reviews - have just finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it - if you are a fan you will not be disappointed - cant wait for her new novel to be completed

Book itself is well made etc but regards story - well it’s now August 2018 and I’ve still not finished it. Think that says it all. Usually live Tasmina Perry but struggled to get into this

Very disappointed. Nothing like I expected from this author. Have purchased and loved all her previous books but unlikely to buy her again.
