This is not a high tolerance tool, but works great. I have used the smaller of the two guides a lot on the holes I drilled (~100 holes, 1/4-20, 3/8, and 1/2 dia.) and then hand tapped on my mill. Never had a problem with it, other than my thumbs getting sore from turning the tap into medium hard steel. Some of these 1/2-20 holes were 1-1/4 deep blind taps and without this tool I am sure I would have broken at least one tap!

These work great. Do exactly the job I needed them to do.

These aren’t Starretts but they’re perfectly adequate for amateurs like me. Very reasonably priced.

Works well in a mill to keep taps running true. Springs seem to have enough pressure on them to keep them engaged while using.
