Windpony G 6-hole Unfinished Cedar Native American Style Flute

This is my second aromatic red cedar flute, this G and a Jonah Thompson F# costing $130, $75 more than this Windpony. Unlike the Windpony, the Thompson is nicely finished and has a carved fetish (block). The Thompson is mostly red wood with numerous large but tight knots while the Windpony is about 50/50 white to red wood with only one tiny knot. In contrast to the Thompson, the flue is in the Windpony block rather than the flute body. Finishing the Windpony was simple, after sanding to 330 grit paper I applied 2 coats tung oil and a couple coats of tree wax . Though not as rich a tone as the Thompson, the Windpony has a very pleasant sound and is very playable. Another plus, Robert Windpony is very responsive to questions and complaints. I had purchased a plastic NAF for knocking around but now would choose one of Windpony's unfinished flutes for camping/traveling. These flutes are easy to play and the "cat's meow" for musically challenged people like me. Windpony offers an inexpensive entry into the world of the flute and I recommend them to anyone willing to invest a little sweat equity.
