Suzuki Violin School International Edition, Violin Part Book & CD Volume 1

My 7 year old just started violin lessons for the first time. Her lessons are from a Suzuki teacher, who recommended this book to assist with practicing at home (since there's only one 30-minute lesson per week). The book starts by introducing learners to the parts of the violin and eventually ends with some good, beginner songs. Her teacher said that students can take anywhere from 1-3 years to work through this book, depending on various factors. For $15, it's an excellent supplement to what the teacher offers!I also appreciate the CD that comes with the book. The teacher mentioned how the Suzuki method is big on training the ear. Violin students need to be able to hear themselves and know if they are playing correctly. That can only come by listening to the songs as they are being played correctly. We listen to this CD many evenings during dinner. It makes for nice background music during dinner time, and my daughter is also learning what the songs are supposed to sound like, which is helping to "train" her ear. I thought it was a bit weird at first to realize there is also a piano playing with the violin in the CD. However, I quickly realized that musicians seldom have solos. They need to know how to play with others, so the piano is helping to train her ear as well.

Easy to follow lessons if you have even just a little knowledge of music. The CD helps show what the music is supposed to sound like, which is very helpful! Finger and bowing exercises are interspersed with songs, all of which start out simple and gradually advance as you move through the lessons. I recommend using this method to anyone who wants to re-learn an instrument or has played another instrument. A person with absolutely no music background might need an instructor initially with the Suzuki method.

I am an Adult learner just starting, and after buying this book at my instructors advice, I am a Twinkle Twinkle little star MASTER!!! I can play it all kinds of ways man, just trust me, it is so freaking awesome! You can keep your Mozart and Beethoven, give me some more of that Twinkle Twinkle stuff! Buy this book, and you'll see what I'm talking about. But for real, this is a very awesome book, but just know you will definitely want an instructor, it's not self explanatory, and you'll need someone to give you the tabs and show you techniques. Absolutely get the version with the audio cd, I can't imagine trying to practice at home without it. Great buy.

This works really well for my kids. Their violin teacher wanted us to get the one with a cd of the music. Thats so helpful. Not only are they learning to read the music, the cd with it helps them play by ear. Really great method for helping kids learn violin. I recommend it. My kids are starting to play so well. There are also many people on YouTube that teach these songs in a learning Tempo. They have helped my kids out immensely as well as their teacher. Hope this helps!

I like the book and think it is useful for beginning violin players. I don't like how the songs are labeled on the cd however. The cd titles them on thing but they are titled another in the book. There is a guide towards the front of the book to help you figure out what track on the cd goes with which song in the book though, I just wish the titles were the same.

This is the book that my Violin Instructor wanted me to get. I have used it for the last year and being a new violin player over the age of 60 just learning to play violin, I am impressed. I have started learning violin using the Suzuki method and I am happy with my progress after one year. I have always wanted to play violin and after 1 year I have progressed to be able to play for enjoyment. I am glad I have had the opportunity in these trying times to find some joy thanks also to my teacher. Highly recommend this book.

Just purchased, but love the cd which has all the songs with piano accompaniment and then all repeated of piano only, for you, the violinist, to have as an accompaniment. Nicely done. The book is well prepared, also. Will caution though...be careful who you order from as it took me three separate orders of three separate vendors to receive the item (here on Amazon). Lot of run around. Happy to finally have the book and the cd.

I grew up learning the Suzuki method for piano, so when I bought a violin I knew I wanted to use the Suzuki method as well. These updated books (well, updated from the '80s) have so much information and theory in the beginning of the book which, as an adult, is really helpful for me to learn before diving into playing the instrument. I'd highly recommend this method to anyone looking to learn the violin (or piano).

Took forever to receive the book which costed me over $45 and CD was not even included. I sent emails several time but never got any feedback either...
