Experiencing God: The Three Stages of Prayer

I Very Much Enjoyed This Book...The Author Was A Very Gifted Writer. It's a very short read but, for me, I found it to be very informative as well as enjoyable. He wrote very clearly without speaking down to his readers & he used layman's terms; he definitely knew who his "audience" was. I also read one of his other books, "When The Well Runs Dry" which I also enjoyed. I'm hoping I can find more of his books. In this one, the author is describing (in very clear examples) how we can have a closer relationship with God. Even though the author is obviously a Catholic I do highly recommend this lovely book to all Christians.

having used this book in several different spiritual settings (book group, retreat, small faith sharing group and a great dinner discussion) I must say it elicited amazing dialogue, intriguing questions and a deeper desire to move forward on the spiritual journey. Worth double the price!!!

Fr. Thomas Green is an incredible writer for spiritual direction. So easy to read but a real classic. I will have this near me for the rest of my life!!

I bought this book on a recommendation from a friend. I'm very glad I did. I read a lot, and very few books have been so thought-provoking on prayer as this one. I'm not a Roman Catholic, but the few references to specifics within the Catholic faith are readily understood. I found the personal, almost chatty, style that Thomas uses most effective. He uses everyday, easily recognisable examples and illustrations throughout. The very short chapters make for long reflection on their concise content. All together a very helpful book for those wanting to develop their prayer life in the contemplative tradition.

This book is a wonderful resource for pray-ers of all denominations and stages of maturity. It is warm, compassionate, practical, and flows from a life of listening to and advising the spiritual journey of men and women from all walks of life. A good road for the journey!
