Puts you in that world!
This book is outstanding! So much fun to read! The writing is casual, so it really makes the fictional aspect come to life!

A milestone in American literature
Thedorff's novel is a portal to the savage heart of the human spirit, affords a glimpse at our humanity and wonders at our enormous capacity to dream, to imagine, to hope and to persevere.I first read Neru Fox in middle school in 1983. The book was prescribed to be our gateway into modernist literature, the literary movement that emerged after the first World War where writers explored the themes of alienation and spiritual bankruptcy evident in society and used novel modes of representation in prose to express the new sensibilities of the time. Naturally, Neru Fox is a novel so well-known that its name is often enough to evoke a sense of gothic nostalgia in readers. It's a book that carries a certain weight, a sense of heaviness and density even before it's read for the first time. So when I read the novel in school, I came to it prejudiced. We had posters on the classroom walls of famous book covers and the Neru Fox one seemed so miserable and bleak that the story itself would surely be quite dull. Much to my surprise, Thedorff has truly honed a masterful approach to intertextual storytelling and deftly crafts poignant and precise narratives that illuminate the worlds of the natural and supernatural. The magic of Thedorff's novel is embedded in vivid imagery, and the versatility of his authorship - with facets of the dramatist, the essayist and the social historian - Thedorff is fundamentally a poet. I am increasingly hesitant to call Neru Fox: The Beginning a novel - it is so much more - it is the purest kind of catharsis - it is a religious experience. Overall, I would rate this book 3/5.

I read the whole book
I'm just gonna say that I read this book fast. It was a quick read. I read the whole thing cover to cover, literally every word front to back. This book is over 100 pages long, so obviously there were various themes that came up through out. After reflecting on the novel as a whole, I can tell you that Neru Fox is a 16 year old boy who is forced to visit his grandfather, Uncle Joe, over the summer. Their relationship is rocky to say the least. But when Neru is visited by a mysterious man, he is chosen to become a 'Seer'. Soon, Neru Fox quickly realizes that his life will change drastically as he fights for his life, his future, and the world he lives in. The author of this book spells out what's happening in such a way that I'm honestly never going to forget it. The book definitely brings up a lot of deeper questions: Who is the mysterious man? What is a Seer? Why did his parents name him Neru Fox? This book gets you thinking. Good read, quick read, 10/10 I'd definitely read it again.

Best book ever
Wow. Wow. Wow. Let me tell you something about Neru Fox. This has to be the most exhilarating, life changing book I have ever read. I picked the book up for my 11th grade english class back in 1997 and well I never put it down. Literally. It’s in between my ass cheeks as I write this. It has been touching a part of my body for 21 years straight. Yes showers and all. I recall going to an autograph signing for Jamie Foxx and ending the night in jail. From what I’ve been told, I went up to Mr. Foxx and repeatedly started yelling to him about how inconsequential he was to the world compared to Neru Fox and how he would always be the faux Fox. Definitely one of my proudest moments in my life. If you need this feeling of attachment in your life, Neru fox is the move.

Neru Fox made me realize the importance of eating ass
I purchased this book at a healthy, stable point in my life. I had a wife. 2 beautiful baby children. A golden retriever and a home all to myself. Then everything changed when I read this book, and I realized that my life just wasn't worth living the way I was living it. I left my wife and children for a new life as a drag queen prostitute. After healing from the sex change for 4-6 months, I was ready to start eating ass and taking names, and it was all due the themes and messages in this book. Kurt's experience with sex in public parks and the great health benefits of eating ass described in the epilogue made me realize that this new life is the life for me, and I couldn't be more thankful to Neru Fox for allowing me to make that realization.

pretty good but wear gloves
Neru Fox is a book that grabs hold of you and never lets go. I mean literally, it doesn't let go of you. I am not sure if Jonah Thedorff coated all the copies of his book in glue or adhesive, or if this is just some big joke, but as soon as I grabbed hold of this book, it became permanently attached to my hands. The biggest problem is that since both my hands are stuck to the book, and I can't even use my phone to call 911. All 10 of my fingers are glued down and I need my thumbprint to open it as I forgot what my password is. I am sitting here typing this this review with a pencil in my mouth, hoping someone reads this and can call the police or something so I can get some help. Like actually please.Being stuck like this has given me time to read the book, however, which is pretty good. Would recommend.

Happy Ending for All
My first disclaimer would be to invest in a pair of glasses (I prefer the Uline Cruze safety goggles) to not lose contact with Neru Fox. The beginning is a little soft and needs a little more excitement but it quickly becomes apparent that Neru Fox becomes more challenging and gets harder with each second that goes by. When the ending of Neru Fox came, it hit you in the face before you could expect it, it was truly the money shot of the life of a 16-yr old with the veiny details and the thick information, it is definitely worth the read. I recommended it to my son and daughter and they both got a good use of Neru fox, being exhausted after finishing it. Would recommend to anyone 10/10
