this is a great dvd to own if you like merle haggard

This is a mature Merle Haggard and his band performing at their best, and in an excellent environment. Merle & his band are really "into it" and so is the large crowd at Billy Bobs, making this one great concert dvd. I've seen the dvd of Hag performing on Austin City Limits, and this one is a whole lot better. The only thing is that Merle does not play the fiddle any during this concert, he only plays his electric guitar. However, there is a good fiddle player in his band. He has a great backing band on this dvd.As far as I am aware of, this is the Hag's most recent dvd. I recently saw Merle Haggard & his band, in person, on the first night of his 2012 tour. This was in Monroe, Louisiana, back in January. They were selling this dvd at the concert, but, I waited and purchased mine from amazon, because it was a lot cheaper. After Hag left Monroe, and continued on his tour to Macon, Georgia, he became ill, and had to cancel about 10 of his concerts. He has recovered, and is now back on tour.As far as the song list goes, it is covered by the 1st reviewer, a.k.a. the most helpful review. Overall, this is definitely a 5 star quality concert dvd. It even contains bonus material, including an interview with the Hag.

i didnt want this.........i only wanted the cd for my husband for xmas. we cant watch videos on here. just want the cd that i order. thanks

When I bought this ,I assumed it was the video of the Billy Bob's live CD.While this is a good show,the other was one of my favorites of Merle's .He had a great guitar player on the CD,on this video Merle plays guitar.Hag can really sing and write,but as a guitar player he should hire that out.But, back to the subject,this video is great quality,sound and visualy.There are two familiar faces ,Norm on steel and old what's his name on horns.The last time is saw a Hag concert,he had a pickup band,which was great,Merle played guitar quite a bit,but a better picker was playing second guitar.I doubt we will see the great bands he carried back in the eighties.Merle Haggard doesn't have to prove anything to anyone ,he sings as well now as ever ,and still writes goods songs.Buy it,you'll like it.

Amazon product description clearly states "closed captions" My disc, as r'cvd, had no CC or subtitles. It's a great disc visually but for someone with a partial hearing loss it's like buying a car and then discovering that the transmission is missing. I have given it a way. Apparently, the producers of this disc are arrogant cretins who are totally un-aware that about half the population of the world has some degree of hearing loss. I certaninly won't be buying anything produced by Rick Smith & Associates.

Merle has assembled a dream band and gives a great performance. His guitar playing is featured and is a rare treat as he usually gives the knod to other, and in this case to Lefty Frizell's ex guitar player.I saw merle in the fall of 2009 and it was the greatest concert I've ever seen. This DVD comes close, but see him with Noel and his son playing guitar and you are in for a treat. Get this DVD. All the sidemen are with him and he delivers a solid set.

Could only desribe this dvd as brilliant,country music at its very best.I particularly enjoyed the duos with Janie Fricke.Merle may be older but his voice and guitar playing are as good as always The video and sound quality are faultless and this will always be treasured as part of my music video collection.I also have Live In Austin Texas which was recorded 30 years earlier also great quality and must be a part of anyones collection.Thanks Amazon for providing such great music.Regards from Bill Queensland Australia.

Merle puts on good show and the live crowd makes it more realistic .Some of the songs were not number ones but still good to listen too. worth the money

as i am a big merle haggard fan thought this dvd was excellent.

Merle und seine Band in Bestform im Billy Bobs. Wunderschön finde ich das Intro von "Farmers Doughter". Auch wirklich treffend "Ol Country Singer". Bild und Tonqualität sehr gut. Interessant auch die Interviews mit Merle und seinen Musikern.

This is Merle Haggard at his best the band is tight and although he is no spring chicken his voice is like aged whiskey the picture quality is great and the sound (dts) is perfect .If you are a Haggard fan grab this one this is his best live DVD to date .

If you are a contry music fan this is a must have !!!
