VanEssential's Magnetic Cover: A Perfect Match for Dometic Fans too
The media could not be loaded. Owning a Thor Motor Coach van with a Dometic fan, I've always been on the hunt for a product that would be the right fit and offer solid functionality. Enter the VanEssential Magnetic Insulated Roof Vent Sun Cover.Installation? A dream come true. The magnetic design is straightforward and user-friendly. I just placed it atop my Dometic fan, and it clung instantly without any fuss. No straps, no clips, just a smooth attachment. One of the standout features has to be the insulation. My Thor Motor Coach van previously had a tendency to become a mini-oven or freezer, depending on the season. This cover genuinely bridges that gap, helping maintain a comfortable internal temperature. Plus, with its precise 16.5" x 16.5" dimensions, it offers a snug fit, ensuring effective sunlight blockage and UV protection, which is invaluable for protecting the van's interiors.Speaking of durability, this cover feels like it's built to withstand the elements. Whether it's been under the intense summer sun or enduring the sporadic rain showers, it's held up impressively, showing no signs of wear.In summary, if you're a Thor Motor Coach van owner with a Dometic fan, looking for that ideal vent cover, I can't recommend VanEssential's Magnetic Insulated Roof Vent Sun Cover enough. It's been a great addition to my van, providing both protection and comfort. A worthy investment!

Much better than Velcro !
I ordered these after seeing them on a product review video. In the past, I've always used the Velcro ones that you have to stick on the glue part on both pieces and then pull the Velcro apart to remove the shade. This design is so MUCH BETTER! The magnets are extremely strong, and it's quick and easy to do the installation. After it's installed, it works MUCH better than the Velcro ones, and is so much easier! As a bonus, while I had my vent fan trim piece off, I noticed the wonderful (lack-of) quality control of the RV manufacturer, and I got four longer screws so the trim piece would actually screw into the studs, rather than just into the roof (flimsy) trim piece. So not only got a nice new vent cover, fixed the trim piece at the same time !

Great buy and quality
I like how easy it was to install, how it really blocks the light, that I don't have to take the whole thing off if I don't need to. The magnets are really strong. I have a Velcro one and it's flimsy, terrible quality. These are such great quality and comes with extra magnets just in case. I ordered one originally because of the price but I liked it so much I ordered 3 more for all my vents.

Great Product!
I was very pleased with this product! Obviously high quality and very light weight! I love how it folds accordion style and easily fits in the storage bag. Our camper van is winterized for the season, but I cannot wait to install this cover in the spring. Installation looks very easy.

Install could be easier, but works
All in all, favorably impressed. Install could use a tweak, perhaps.I'm replacing some of the Camco thick foam blocks, after replacing my dinky little vent fans with larger Hengs fans; the knob was too low for the Camco blocks to work well anymore. The install's pretty easy with one flaw, at least for my fan; I won't address the whole process, because it comes with the cover. The flaw is the holding mechanism for the magnets: neither painter's nor Gorilla tape could keep the magnets from sliding out. I finally used bits of 3M VHB tape, and that seems to be working much better. The magnets can be fussy to work with in this situation, since I was having to cut bits of tape and make sure the magnets were stuck correct-side down. Also...god forbid I ever need to remove those magnets.I didn't think of just using a very long strip of Gorilla tape until it was too late. Oops. However, once in the cover blocks most light, and while it won't be as insulative as the reflective-backed foam blocks I had before it should still be a considerable improvement over just having the vents open to the cabin.I'm not familiar enough with vent fans to say for sure, but I wonder if some plastic-backed "forms" with the magnets pre-installed wouldn't be a better solution than taping down a bunch of loose magnets.

Perfect fit!
Watched a video (available at this listing) that showed installation. Very helpful. It is very easy to install and fits perfectly on our Jayco Jay Feather Air. You can open it to expose the fan 1/3 at a time or just pull it down. The magnets seem strong enough to hold it in place while traveling (will update if I find out differently).

Review for Van Essential Magnetic Insulated Roof Vent Sun Cover For MaxxAir Fan
Update: So the winter has come and gone and it worked flawlessly. It keeps the interior warmer by restricting the escaping and rising heat. I didn't have any trouble with the magnets as some others have said. Maybe I just installed it properly but I only did what the instructions said. It holds up perfectly fine to my MaxxAir Fan Deluxe. But here's the best part: it has great utility during the summer. Not only does it keep the warming fan lid from venting off that heat to the inside, but it also aids in keeping the inside cool because I figured out that I should always cover the fan and leave one side hanging down on purpose and this concentrates the air when blowing into the van (not exhaust mode), and this creates a fast and cool breeze that SIGNIFICANTLY improves the efficacy of the fan and its cooling abilities. Those of you who have lived inside a hot vehicle with one of these fans will know exactly what I'm talking about. Now just get this cover and try using your fan (blowing IN) with the cover on but one side hanging down. You'll see. It's incredible!Could you make this out of some other material? Absolutely! But just be sure that, whatever you make, allows you for you keep one side open. You'll thank me later. :)
