The Sun Sister: A Novel (The Seven Sisters Book 6)

An important read
All of the books in this series have taken me to exciting places and eras in history but this book really "spoke" to me and "moved" me. Having been a parole and probation officer, I was in homes of people who had suffered or were suffering from addiction and saw the devastating results. Drugs wreaked havoc on their lives and their families. After that career ended I became a drug and alcohol counselor to help people rise out of the "pits" into a world of clarity as Electra achieved in this book. I wish all their stories had as happy an ending as this one. I wish that The Sun Sister was a required read for every politician.

good read
It had more twists & turns than the previous books in the series, which made it a little more difficult of a read for me. It’s said, “all is well that ends well” & this one ended well…

Another Brilliantly Woven Story
Lucinda Riley did again! Just when I was going to accept that perhaps the 6th book in this series might get redundant or start to fall short — Riley proves that a book series can keep getting better and better. What a beautiful tribute to the people in Africa and the strength of those who fought for civil rights! All while getting up close and personal about how addiction can cripple families and society as a whole. This quickly became one of my favorite in this series. Oh the places we shall go.

The Entire Series is Amazing
The Sun Sister is as enchanting as the others in the series. You can travel the world as “the sisters” trace their roots.

Fantastic book and series
The Sun Sister: The Sisters Series Book 6 is by Lucinda Riley. This long-awaited book was well worth the LONG wait. With Electra being of African American descent, this book deals with many of the problems African Americans have dealt with in the United States as well as in other places. She brings up things we would rather ignore than admit in relation to race relations as well as religious tolerance. Along with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as the prostitution and sex-slavery that goes with them, Lucinda brings those frightful things to light to keep us aware of them and we see how a group of people gather together to give the help they can. It is a very inspirational work.Electra is the last of the six adopted sisters that Pa Salt gathered at his home called Atlantis. The girls are of different cultures and races and yet were brought up as sisters, to see beyond their looks into the person they really were. From the time she was brought home, she was always the loudest, most daring, and most discontent of the girls. She screamed her way through childhood. When she was old enough to attend school and attended one whose children were being brought up to be the upper class, she was bullied and ostracized for telling lies (she just exaggerated the truth at first; but no one believed the truth.) As she kept getting into trouble through no fault of her own, she reassessed the situation and began to get in trouble on purpose. After leaving school , she fled to Pairs where she got a waitress job and then was picked up by a producer and his faith in her led to her career as a high fashion model. She began to thrive and become famous for her shots. Now she is floundering in a sea of cocaine and alcohol. Where will she turn? Will she finally look for the clues which tell where to begin looking for her past? When she does find her past, will it be what she needs? Now we must wait again for Book 7 in the series to find out who the last sister is.

Wonderful Read
I loved this installment of the Seven Sisters series from Lucinda Riley. This may be the one I’ve enjoyed the most because of the association drawn between past and present, and how real human crises do not change with time. The heart is still the heart! To me, this novel is the most picturesque and beautifully written. I felt as if I was in long-ago Kenya with Cecily, and could see, hear, smell and taste the landscapes as described by the author. Electra’s bent on self-destruction is so well explained, and her angst is palpable. I don’t wish to write a spoiler review, so I will simply say this is one of my favorites! I will reread this many times, I’m certain, because Ms. Riley’s attention to detail means I surely missed a few things along the way. The only negative I have is that the ending seemed rushed. I know it’s a very large novel, but there were some loose ends tied up too quickly and some not at all. This did not take a lot away from the pleasure I enjoyed while devouring this remarkable story within 3 days. I’m looking forward to the next in the series, as I think maybe that will tie up all those unsolved mysteries.

An evolving story which gets better as it grows.
I found this difficult in the initial stages, but gradually the storyline built and in the end I was mesmerised.88
