Quite the intriguing narrator
Deftly woven from the narrator's view as her world crashes and burns. Then she is off to deal with an inheritance and still unsure she will ever be whole again. She is sure her life is a ruin if her own neglect. The delight is seeing what others see in her situation.

I couldn't put this book down!
Predictable but kept me anxious to see how she pulled it off. Good book for the beach or cozy afternoon.

A Little Bland for Me
I punted at about 60%, realizing I was only keeping going because I'd paid $8.99 and was determined to get my money's worth. That never works. It's not a bad book. Grammar and spelling worked. No inconsistencies in plot. The setting was interesting. Might have been more so if the author had spent more time exploring the town. But the narrator (female lead) seemed aimless and not very interesting. She was old enough to be more of a person. The male lead just seemed sulky--or grumpy. They're working in a bookstore, but I never got a good feel for what they would or wouldn't read. The books felt more like inventory. They might have been selling antiques or vintage clothes for all they mattered. There was profanity for the sheer joy of it. People do talk like that, but I don't spend time with them.In fairness, it's very hard to write a romance where there's no particular reason for the couple not to fall in love. If you don't have really serious obstacles, you probably need a mystery or thriller "B" plot. Hence the popularity of romantic suspense.Might try Morley's The Haunted Bookshop for a bookshop where people care about books, or Jennifer Crusie's Fast Women for a more interesting divorcee and new employer romance.

nice Easy Read
I enjoyed the story. There was enough drama to make it interesting but not so much to make it hard to read. Perfect for when you are going through a hard time. Thea is fun and relatable. Edward is funny in his own way. The town is lovely.

Good Book
This is a nice story about a woman who is getting divorced from her philandering husband. She inherits a cottage is Scotland, where she becomes involved in the community. It is an entertaining book that fans of Jenny Colgan (or other similar authors) will enjoy. Wish someone would leave me a cottage in Scotland!

Second chances indeed
This is a book to be savored. Thea and Chris have been married for 15 years when he falls I love with her friend. She becomes aware of the situation is a shocker. While moving her possessions out of their home, Chris answer a letter which informs her she has inherited a home in Scotland. Along with this home from a great uncle with whom she had very little contact, what is the best collection of first edition and antique books. Needing to settle the estate, their decides to visit and dispose of the property. Once there Thea finds the situation the distraction she needs. The book seller proves very much a distraction. The interaction their experiences with the locals is far reaching effects. I like the fact that she became more of her own person and even though the Sting of the break up was present, Thea was able to move ahead and begin a new relationship. When her ex appears and wants to talk, Thea has a healthy grasp of the situation.I don’t know why this book struck a chord but as I continued reading I fell more and more under it spell. This is a great book about second chances and how when one door closes another opens.

Romance and great humor
Though I’m not much for writing reviews, I will say I really enjoyedreading this book. The author lets you get in to their thoughts and are so relatable. Some moments are funny and some sad of course, but that’s life! I recommend this book!

a new favorite author!!
I absolutely loved this book! The characters are wonderfully drawn and the dialog had me laughing out loud! I totally recommend this book! My only regret is that it is Jackie Fraser’s first book so I can’t read other gems of hers! I will be anxiously awaiting her next book! Bravo!

Loved this story!
This story is the perfect escape - it is well told, I felt like I was back in the Highlands of Scotland. The story was very believable, nothing too farfetched and well told. Cannot wait to pick up another novel by Jackie Fraser!
