Beautifully & Smartly Designed, Qsprey Quality & Ingenuity
I own several Osprey packs already, so when I saw the Archeon 25, being a bag lover, I had to see what it was all about, especially since I don't have a roll-top bag yet.First of all, the bag as a whole, like most Osprey bags, is very handsome. I think this is the best looking Osprey pack I've seen. Everything about it from the dimensions, lines, features, pockets and how they are implemented exude a sleek, but rugged, modern feel. The zipper is big and burly, stitching is flawlessly done, and the materials used are top notch. The canvas fabric used is much thicker than on any of the other Osprey packs I own, which is nice, since this is supposed to be a laptop bag. As a minimalist, I appreciate this particular design very much. The locations of the compartments and little pockets throughout the pack were obviously very well thought out.My favorite thing about this pack is the main opening. It zips about 2/3 of the way down, giving you a huge opening to access the main compartment which houses the laptop sleeve. It can be further widened by pulling the top apart which are held together by snap buttons - such a cool design! The laptop sleeve is very well padded, offering ample protection for the laptop. The main harness is adjustable for differing torso lengths, while each padded shoulder strap has both a top and bottom adjustment straps to get your fit perfect and dialed in.The outside of the pack has stretchy mesh pockets to carry water bottles on both sides, and on the front center as a 'shove-it' pocket for quick and convenient stowage. That 'shove-it' pocket is held securely shut by the stylish auminium clip/buckle which keeps the roll top secured. The buckle/strap design is awesome and adds to the sleekness of the bag.The back panel is a bumpy mesh design Osprey dubs "Airscape", which, from my experience, is implemented slightly differently on all their packs, but share similar concepts. In short, they're effective, and designed to keep your load close to your body as possible, while allowing enough space for air to pass through so your back can breath.Lastly, and arguably one of the most important aspects of any pack (for me anyway), is the hip belt. Depending on the bag and purpose, I can forgive it for not having a sternum strap, but it better have a hip strap - a PROPER one. That means padded. I refuse to own, or even wear any bag that does not have a properly padded hip belt. I don't care what the bag is for. It better have one. A pet-peeve of mine is when a bag completely lacks a hip belt, or when they have one, but it's just a strap without any padding. I just hate the feeling of a bag flapping against my back, or the feeling of thin straps digging into my hips.At first, I was about the pass on this bag for that very reason. I thought this bag had just a bare naked strap. But when I saw that there was actual padding around the hip, which is where it's most important to have padding, I was sold.Thankfully, the day I was testing out the Archeon 25, it was raining quite hard. That allowed me to test out the DWR coated fabric and "waterproofness" of the bag. We went to the lake dock to mess around with our RC boats, which I used the Archeon to carry it in. At the end it was raining SO bad that we had to retreat. When we finally got back inside the car, my jacket and pants were thoroughly soaked, but the inside of this pack was bone dry!! Impressive! If you're wondering why I chose to use this bag to carry my RC stuff in, is because the roll top design of this pack allowed me to set my boat inside, then gently roll the top over just enough without risking damage to the rudder, while still being able to cover it. I would have worried with any other bag.To say that I am impressed with this bag is an understatement. I think I'm in love with it, actually. I can't wait to be able to use it more. If I could give this six stars I would. If you're thinking about getting this bag, stop. Just get it! It's a pretty darn awesome bag. I'm super glad I was able to procure one. Thanks, Osprey!

Simple Rolltop Work of Art
For a laptop bag and commuter bag, or even as a school bag, this thing is a minimalists dream and work of light. Simple lines. Great fabric. Practical but not overdone.Video is a full walkthrough of the bag. Osprey makes some wicked cool bags and this is one of their nicest designs, in my opinion. One potential flaw is those snaps, which you'll see in my vid. But I don't hate them. I'm just wondering if velcro would be better up top there.

Rolltop with access
This is designed for more of a commuter/work laptop -- still has a nice padded back, but not the AirScape mesh on the hiking bags. The roll to is nice and looks kind of cool, plus the fabric is more old school. Really like that the roll top opens up more for better access to the bag. And of course Osprey has a lifetime warranty, and amazing craftsmanship.

Sleek looking but, oh my, the roll top is a pain
The roll top is very cool looking, as is the whole backpack, but it is a real pain. Truly this is form before function. If you don't mind that every opening and closing is a multi-step procedure and you love the look of the backpack, then this is for you. Otherwise, the process is too much for me to bother. My second ding against this backpack is the side pockets. They're too short. Have you seen the size of the water bottles that we are carrying around these days? Goodness, these need to be taller by a few inches. I'm tired of water bottles toppling out of pockets. The strap/belt designs are over-engineered for the size of this backpack while the width of the shoulder straps (thin) give a good indication that this is not a heavy-load pack. It's almost small enough that Osprey could have dispensed with the belt.Fit-wise, I'm an average 6' guy and this pack comes in small on me. I think it fits better on 5'8" and below. The build quality is great. The looks are great. If you're smaller stature and want the roll-top, this is for you.
