I keep trying to understand why? You will never forget this event
This book The Rape of Nanking: The History and Legacy of the Notorious Massacre during the Second Sino-Japanese War is an accurate betrayal of the events. I have read the Rape of Nanking: the Forgotten Holocaust of World War II by Iris Chang, and several magazine articles over the years about this massacre. This book provides a concise and brief overview of the events at Nanking prior to the official start of World War II for the United States. Even after reading all the books and articles I still don't understand why the Japanese military behave in the manner that they did. If you do not want to read the larger and longer books about this massacre, I highly recommend that you read this book. You will never forget the rape of Nanking.

Good, but hard to read
This is a difficult book to read as it describes the incredible orgy of violence committed against innocent and unarmed Chinese. The mindset that created these atrocities is still around in many corners of the world. If you want to know what happened, this book will describe it for you.

A Cold Account
While this work is filled with facts the reader becomes desensitized because of the lack of first-person dialog. Surely at the time of its writing there were interviews of the victims & their tormentors. It would have humanized the historical facts.

Heartbreaking
This book is a very matter-of-fact documentation that is extremely heartbreaking for anyone to read. It really makes you wonder about humanity.

The story is shocking and depressing, have it four only because I'm unsure it's accuracy
Shocking and depressing, truly denotes man's inhumanity to man. We are all the same none is superior to another, therefore equal

The viciousness of men
I knew of the story but the reading helps you understand how vicious human beings can be. It is disgusting but worth reading.

The horrors of WWW2 in the East.
One often reads of Nazi extermination of jews and gypsies, rarely does one focus on the huge scale of massacre in the east .The Japanese who normally look so courteuos exposed their contempt and sadism as vividly expressed in this narrative.Charles River editors without exageration have once again succintly written about this dark chapter in History.

Good overview of the Rape of Nanking
Good overview of the Rape of Nanking. I thought I was buying the famous book by Iris Chang, but this is actually a shorter summary. Oops! Still a good read.

Horrible, Japan Be Damed
Hearing stories about Nanking, This book highlights what really happened. War is horrible under any circumstances but the behaviour of Japan, their soldiers, and accepting by their people now reinforces, my thoughts, and probably many others that the final solution with the dropping of the atomic bombs should have included the entire island. May we never forget………Rest In Peace - people of Nanking………

Libro bastante interesante

Absolute rubbish. A MUST TO AVOID
Unfortunately I did not notice that this book was only 42 pages. The print that can be read is actually only 36 pages. Subtract the grainy photographs and you have approx 30 pages of reading material. This book appears to be an AI generated piece of schoolboy history. It contains little or no references of any worth. Its not even a good starting point on the subject. A MUST TO AVOID.

Rip off!!!
What a rip off. This is not a book. More like a brochure. I should have checked the page number more closely as there are some actual real books by the same title on Amazon.
